His biggest example of success in a theatrical release is Titanic? It was released when most people didn't even have dial up internet! This author is living in the past and doesnt understand that the industry has changed. Even pre-pandemic we didnt enjoy going nto the theater.
A 50" TV is less than $300, and I don't have to deal with being overcharged popcorn and listen to people smacking their mouths while they eat.
And let's not forget that this is the same crowd that says Black Lives Matter while mostly employing people who believe that God chose their race above all others. The doublespeak and lies have worn thin in 2020.
We've all seen this story before - T overpays to acquire a healthy, dynamic business. T puts their mediocre telecom goons in charge of previously motivated, highly creative business. Creativity and morale go down the toilet. T sells now ruined business for pennies on the dollar.
T is considered this nation's worst managed large company for a reason.

The article[makes a number of good points such as "The arrogance is not surprising," but then, the author is an artist and is seeing the world through his own prism. Of course, AT&T was dead wrong not to talk to the film makers before making this announcement, but it's 2021, a pandemic will still be raging, and people will not be going to movie theaters for many months. His majestic longing for that setting just won't happen in 2021.
The author is also myopic with his statement "In their primary business, AT&T hasn’t had to manage talent." ... so I guess because AT&T employees are not Hollywood stars, they are not "talent". I work in a software division. There are many talented people here. Many were treated poorly and left making it hard to attract new talent. Talent isn't a word reserved for Hollywood elitists....
But overall, he's correct - AT&T got rid of all the "movie people", replaced them with their henchmen, and the results will play out over the next few years.
