Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Are you already looking for something new?

This may sound like an over reaction, however my advice to every single TR employee is to update your resume and begin to build your network and make it known you are open to opportunities outside of TR. You may have survived this round and the last 10 rounds, but time will run out, I assure you, so prepare yourself.

Great advice, @6nfi+18luttcM ! People who are not fired often forget that these are very uncertain times and that they too can be fired at any moment. Honestly, I had a good time at TR but at this point I would like to move on and hope I can find something MUCH BETTER.

What are the chances of things improving with management locked in a darkened room wearing sunglasses?

There is no logic to what they are doing and who they keep. People are getting put into roles that they are not qualified and people that have done an outstanding job are dismissed. Leadership is literally clueless or don't care, not sure which one it is.

@svz+18saCapJ obviously you didn't understand the comment. They didn't say leave now, they said you should update your resume and be open to opportunities, not leave without something. It is great advice to be prepared for something that is inevitable. Also, who says people have to stay within the industry, there are industries doing well and TR looks good on the resume. Keep options open.

put an * before and after any text... if you do it twice you get bold. put a dash at the start of a line to get a bullet

OP, apparently you are woefully uninformed about the state of the industry atm, if you think you're going to find a "MUCH BETTER" job in this climate. Considering you work for a media company, it's somewhat alarming how ignorant you are about the current state of affairs.
