I really enjoyed the thinly veiled "If you don't like it, leave." section. Classic JS!

The 5G auction is increasing beyond what the company wants (or can?) take on in debt. The cost structure of services is already stupidly high in a competitive mobility market. The company has no choice but to keep upping the bid. This translates into some serious “efficiency” planning for multiple years. The “lean workforce” is about to get skeletal...
evolution is atheist, thanks but i'm following Jesus, comrade
dear mr stankey, thanks for the advice. some for you:buy low, sell high, repeat until memorized.
LOL! https://nypost.com/2020/12/20/att-disappointed-with-offers-for-directv/
In spite of all the perks, incredible access to top advisers - not to mention all the fireside chats with that guy, randy, the johns and the entire board, have been and will always been a herd of third grade sore losers and will be subject of study for decades on how to run a company into the ground given all the necessary time.
"his veteran would appreciate if the privileged Stankey, who never served in any branch of the military would stop using quotes from generals"
Amen brother, I am right there with you, Makes me sick to my stomach. Can you imagine this guy as a junior officer with his pompous, smug, attitude? He would have been eaten alive and drummed out of the military so fast his head would spin.
This veteran would appreciate if the privileged Stankey, who never served in any branch of the military would stop using quotes from generals. Especially, since he and his team have been busy firing veterans. Also, don't spout off about diversity when the only minorities you know are privileged people in the C-Suite, some people that do work at your mansion and the person that shines your shoes at your country club!
The executive management of AT&T is pretty uniformly incompetent. I'm amazed at how much damage they have been allowed to do to corporate value without being replaced.
F— him and his messages! I didn’t even bother. I just focus on doing my job! Maybe he should do the same since our leadership is driving this ship to the bottom of the ocean!
Benefits? Ba..humbug...
Ebenezer Stankey
"Given the human body has been programmed over centuries to “evolve” and not “transform,” this more rapid pace of professional change can often be unsettling and hard to adapt to for many of us."
They always preached that c-ap and I was always ready for change - it was the reason I got my degrees in computer science because it is always changing but nothing ever happened at att. what change is he talking about? A big nothing burger. So I decided to change and left att and I have been changing and transforming ever since. He is so full of it he doesn't his arse from a hole in the ground.
Change at att is implementing uam and throwing more management tools on the servers than applications. Brilliant yeah lets all change. id–t and what a maroooon.
Next he'll quote all-time great failure Carly Fiorina!
Now, everybody read this and, besides the company name and dates, tell me a single difference between this loser and Stankey? Just one? (OK, Stankey might have failed on a grander scale, but still).
"Following her forced resignation from HP, several commentators ranked Fiorina as one of the worst American (or tech) CEOs of all time. In 2008, InfoWorld grouped her with a list of products and ideas that flopped, declaring that her tenure as CEO of HP was the sixth worst tech flop of all time, and characterizing her as the "anti-Steve Jobs" for reversing the goodwill of "geeks" and alienating existing customers. During Fiorina's tenure as CEO, HP leased or purchased five planes, including two Gulfstream IVs, to replace four aging aircraft, only one of which had the range to fly overseas. One Gulfstream IV, acquired at a cost of US$30 million and available for Fiorina's "exclusive" use, became a rallying point among HP employees who complained of Fiorina's expensive self-promotion and top-down managerial style during a time of company layoffs. Jeffrey Sonnenfeld of Yale School of Management said in August 2015 that problems with Fiorina's leadership style were what caused HP to lose half its value during her tenure."
He quoted IBM CEO Ginni Rometty? She failed at IBM. Both AT&T and IBM were on the worse run US companies list this year.
Stink, Stank, Stunk! Stankey as the Grinch but his heart stays small.
Think the message is very loud and clear. To those with 25+ years, 2021 is the year to move on!
The kvnt didn't even read his own words.
He basic statement says: "You need to transform with the environment, not evolve.... Our environment is evolving."
What a muddled, meaningless mess.
Remember it’s up to you
"For us that were laid off in July, please post the letter by the stank-a-nator."
It was a really, REALLY, long email...filled with a bunch of accomplishment BS. But here is the relevant bit at the end where he is basically telling everyone to deal with the changes or get the F out.
A final reflection on 2020 …
We have all experienced more than our fair share of change this year and I thank you for your perseverance. I am keenly aware that change in your professional life may top that list. Given the human body has been programmed over centuries to “evolve” and not “transform,” this more rapid pace of professional change can often be unsettling and hard to adapt to for many of us.
No matter where you are in the organization, I expect you’ve been touched by change.
If you’re like me, you sometimes have to manage your disposition and frame of mind to accommodate the ever-evolving environment around you. There may be deep academic explanations of how to engage in a fast-changing environment, but here are two simple thoughts I keep in mind:
General Eric Shinseki who said, “If you dislike change, you are going to dislike irrelevance even more.”
Or, my friend and former IBM CEO Ginni Rometty who once told me, “When it is inevitable, get enthusiastic.”
Change isn’t done to us – it happens around us. As individuals of free choice and independent thought, we get to decide on its “inevitability and relevance” and either opt-in for the ride or find an environment where the “evolution” is more to our liking. I always find the end of the year a good time to reflect and take stock on issues like this. There is nothing better than starting the New Year ready to hit the ground running with conviction!
For us that were laid off in July, please post the letter by the stank-a-nator.
What an oralist
There may be no "I" in team but the is a "ME".
The ghost of Christmas future!!
I must have taken the message the wrong way; 100% of the comments on Insider are positive and kissing Stank's a55! What could I have been thinking?!
stank is always spewing some nonsense. honestly I don't know how he believes himself.
“No I in TEAM, but unemployment begins with U.”
Ok, shut down the board, can’t beat this comment.
Haven't read any executive holiday emails. Deleted every one of them. I have better things to do with my time (and my sanity) than care what these clowns write.
Thought: If you don't like it, leave. I did not change the fundamentals of the company. I counted on these for near 20 years. I can not get these years back. I don't get millions in salary. I or my family don't get to associate with Hollywood stars at Warner or HBO studios. I don't cost the AT&T billions on gambles to play real life Monopoly.
The past, reward the most valuable asset employees and stock holders and company will prosper.
Now, stock holders including executives want more, we are lucky to have a job.
No I in TEAM, but unemployment begins with U.
The paragraph he wrote about change...was a not so veiled threat, that if you don’t like the changes we are making, go find another job someplace else. It’s not about change, we are used to that, it’s personal now, and affecting my money. Happy ‘effing Christmas...what’s next, we’ll be told to work for free; that it’s a change and we should like it? Jerk....
It would be one thing if he bore any resemblance to an actual leader: charisma, ability, even the most basic modicum of success.
But he was, is, and always will be a loser. The Revers Midas, turning everything he touches into ****. Nobody in the industry - or any industry - respects him. Everything he's done outside of his ladder climbing has been an utter failure. He will go down in history books and will be studied for decades to warn students how not to run a business.
Utter piece of garbage.
"I would be remiss to not also recognize our CNN employees...another strong year bolstering the most trusted brand in news".
Huh?
I'm awaiting the letter asking us to pay T to work & don't forget the non-paid overtime requirement.
" We in for a rough ride, that letter was in POOR taste for the holidays"
Yup , couldn't help himself. Had to pi$$ in everyone's egg nog.
Let me translate:
"2020 has really blown, but we got through it somehow, no thanks to you sniveling, change resisting people that have managed to somehow stay on the payroll. Things are horrible, but they're going to get a lot worse; and if you're not into that, why don't you just leave so that we don't have to lay you off. Which we will do for sure, but we just need to decimate the retiree benefits package a bit more first. I hope you take some time off and come back recharged, and ready to give 110% until we get rid of you and the costs associated with you. Thanks and Happy Holidays".
We in for a rough ride, that letter was in POOR taste for the holidays
Why would you expect any less?
He can't seem to take responsibility for helping RS purchase dying businesses while paying too much, why would he not basically tell employees to "Eat Cake".
