Microsoft has similar big company problems and politics, but in general, the culture is softer and better. Satya as CEO has really turned it around for the better.
Is microsoft a better place to work than Intel? I feel like it would be almost exactly the same
Messay hands on? He was a nasty politician worse than any politician at intel. Just ask others. Also check the reputation of above sr. Director level hires at Apple.
I am sure there are good people who got hired by Apple/google etc. just like there are still good people at intel. I hate the complete Incompetence and hypocrisy of Intel management team and the toxic environment they created. But unfortunately the tech industry is full of sh– shows - thanks to easy money policies that Enabled incompetent politicians to survive and thrive. Everything survives/thrives with easy money - good, bad and ugly. There is no survival of the fittest. So don’t delude yourself to believe that Apple, google, fb are great companies. No, they pay better. And that’s something.
Yes, at least those companies have formal interviews when hiring, which I do not see in Intel.
So I guess they just pick up some hands-on ppls and leave those ppt ppls behind.
Apple is not smart. I am sorry. Before Apple acquired iCDG, they hired some of iCDG GMs like Messay who sunk iCDG, destroyed 5g efforts. Apple hired these people before the acquisition. In order words paying them more - market salaries, sign on bonuses etc. now this is stupid. Apple could have gotten these worthless, bad people anyway as part of the acquisition.
Not smart. It is a toxic place. Anyway some of these companies, behind their shiny exterior, are intel-5 years ago. Don’t forget Apple also hired Barbara. Not sure what she has done for diversity and inclusion, other than being one...
From what I see Apple Portland is hiring mostly younger folks and very rarely above gr9. They recognize the cancer that is the Intel PE club.
It is joy to see these companies, msft, google, FB, Apple hiring Intel’s losers. They think that higher levels/long tenures at intel mean something. Quite the opposite. Intel politicians talk a good talk.
Intel losers will soon damage those companies with their politics, back stabbing, stealing other people’s work and no real deliverables. Good for us.

Yeah the MS hires in Portland are not the best... mostly the old RB clique. But the funny thing is, the people left behind at Intel are even worse.
It's pretty much the c-appy folks from DDG and old guard of CCDO who are joining in Portland. Ampere, Nvidia, Apple have long snapped up the good engineers there.
Intel will be laying off shortly
