Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Member Specialist

Can someone please explain what the duties of the "Member Specialist" position is? Our MSS' are using these people to do their jobs, mini MSS'. They are not out on the floor with the exception of one getting credit and/or pushing Scan and Go.

I mean new hires are now getting $17 and MTL $18 😅 so makes sense this is happening. Either MTL is getting a raise or they’re about to restructure the FE. Who knows.

To Poster @2ecc+18vX6YiQ Thank you for clarification. I can say without a doubt that the Member Specialists in our club are not doing 99% of what is on the list you posted. Only one is out on the floor doing her job. The others are acting like they are mini MSS'. What gets me is they are all doing overrides over $50.00. And one thinks he is a manager, he literally took over a situation regarding an associate that should have gone to Management. He also refuses to go out and sell credit and/or push Scan and Go. He thinks he is above all of it. Again, thank you for the information.

The member specialist:
Creates a memorable experience for our members.
Uses exit technology (primary.)
Increases scan and go adoption (primary.)
Enhance self-checkout experience and adoption (primary.)
Be a champion for shrink prevention, price overrides up to $50.00.
Train associates on member team processes.
Provide support to other areas of the member team, when needed.
Communicate membership benefits.
Lift up to 25 lbs, be able to bend, squat and stand for long periods of time.
Preform additional job related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.

Paraphrased from the audio meeting: Self check, exit door, club pickup, promotes plus, prevent shrink, have your own override numbers, train new cashiers/desk, really sell members on scan n go, sell plus, and anything else you team lead or manager needs done. In fact, it's one step below team members, so when team members are off, you will be expected to step into their shoes and do their job. They expect you to step up and go above and beyond. Preventing shrink and pushing scan n go are two of the biggies.

So this is something new in your club? There has been 1 or more associates out on the floor bugging the sh** out of members for years.

Self check out area exit door is the area to be worked
Primary goal Is getting credits and up grades teach members about scan and go have them sign up
Yes we have codes for over rides if you are over 21 you can help under age associates at register for overrides as Well
