Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Broken Promises

From taking vacation days (again), to cutting the retirement insurance subsidy, to the Pension cuts, to life insurance cuts, etc., AT&T has decided that not only are their older employees not appreciated, they are to be scorned and abused.
I sit here on a Monday morning totally demotivated by these arrogant and altogether sh*tty acts by management. I will do the minimum for a while, at least.
So F your holiday videos, and F you all who came with these benefit cuts to screw your fellow employees because they were “above market”.
Happy Holidays to the rest of you, FWIW.

How many thousands of employees and families has RS-JS-JD made miserable because of their grandiose id–tic serial acquisition decisions ? How much shareholder equity have they destroyed ?

I'm within 7 years of retirement, and like you, realize they want me to leave. Joke's on them. Hello to my first sick days in 15 years in 2021. Hello to no more free OT. Hello to being unavailable for emergencies. Hello to no longer checking messages on my days off. Hello to producing as much as the millennials they're trying to placate for no other reason than they're cheaper. I will do my job, but certainly without any gusto, and when the gig is up, it's up, and I'll take unemployment. There will be no love lost.

Lucky you even still had retirement insurance benefits, T took those from the rest of us decades ago.

OP my sentiments exactly. On top of all the bad news I am completely buried in work, but I’m sure in the back of someone’s mind in HR they would love to dump me for a cheaper option. I wish they would make an offer so I can leave without a second thought.

The latest on the DTV auction is that $15B is not enough and if T isn't offered more they will take it off the auction block. They bought garbage so they now treat employees like garbage to make up for bad deals

The only promises that are kept are the ones given by the Board of Directors to the C-Suite crowd. Hundreds of millions in compensation and perks in exchange for $500k in fees, private jet travel and stock options! Failed mergers, massive debt, falling stock prices and millions in advisory fees to investment bankers! Randall makes over 300 hundred times the average worker, while his performance falls well below of his peers in technology and communications!!!!

Apple is now 10 times the market value of AT&T and Netflix has passed AT&T without a mountain of debt!!

It's not a great sign when your response is that at least we are not as bad as those other guys. Comparing ourselves to the worst is not a recipe for success. Additionally, have you noticed they never specified which companies they compared themselves too.

And AT&T still outdoes most other big corporations.
