Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Leaving it to the employees

GM and Ford will not require employees to receive Covid-19 vaccinations despite the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission saying employers can require workers to do so.

What are everyone’s thoughts on this? Please no conspiracy theories or derogatory remarks. I would like to keep the thread clean.

Not getting it the politicians worldwide and definitely here are taking advantage of the situation. I am happy that Ford is not forcing a vaccine on anyone for employment.

I'm not getting vaccinated by a rushed vaccine for a virus that has a less than 1% chance of k–ling me. I know more people who have committed s–c-de during the shutdown.

The vaccines don't prevent the spread of the virus. Only the astrozrnica one does, and even scientists are skeptical on that data.

No use arguing with people who have already made up their minds. If people want to get an unproven vaccine ( fact - it’s not really a vaccine in traditional sense like the yearly seasonal flu shot) that already had proven to have harsh side effects and has k–led people, go right ahead.

Then again, maybe Ford actually does value their employees lives after all by not mandating this....

@1wmw+18wCQ9Bo The thing is that I have no addictions. I don't drink or smoke. I am a responsible adult. So why I couldn't go to cut my hair in a one to one session with my barber in MI, but I could be with hundred of shoppers in Walmart during the weekends? Please, enlighten me, tell me how the measures of the government make sense and are truly saving lives and are not a bunch of improvisation from the politics to show they are doing something, anything, even when they are hurting more than helping our people.

Maybe you and lot more of Americans could start using your brains, if you stop freaking out. Fear is the mind-k–ler. COVID-19 is not a hoax, and it is bad, but it is not as terrible as you are made to believe. The older you are, the more chances you would die of COVID-19.

For me, personally, the chances of dying of COVID-19 are 5.5 in 100 000. Dying in a car crash in USA 1 in 103. I don't see people freaking out when they drive, or not driving anymore. Chances of dying as a pedestrian 1 in 556. I still see people running and walking outside. Why are we letting fear drive our decisions? Why are we letting the media to make us afraid?

When did we stop believing in freedom and rights? I am OK using a mask to protect others, I am OK with using sanitizer to stop the spread, but why I have to be forced to receive a vaccine that will harm me more than help me? As I said before, I am not against vaccination, and I am not against other people receiving the vaccine. In my case, there is a medical issue: I am still suffering the after effects of a vaccine that I received when I was a baby.

If Ford, or any other company try to mandate me to do anything, I'll leave the company. Simple as that. There are more companies out there looking for someone with my skills.

Thanks

"Why am I being treated as a dumb child now by the government?"

Your entire post shows why.

Also, just FYI, Ford and most other companies, can and will fire you if you have a substance abuse problem, like alcoholism.

Every year Ford has flu vaccination clinics setup for the employees at several locations around the Dearborn campus. As Ford employees, we are under no requirement to get vaccinated. As far as I see it Ford is adhering to the same policy with this disease.

With that said, my motivation to get the vaccination would not because of a mandate from my place of employment. It would be because I want to reduce my chances of getting this potentially fatal disease. I see it as simply as that.

I am not going to vaccinate myself or my son. My wife agrees with me on that. She probably will get the vaccine; that's her decision.

As the OP asked to keep the thread clean, I am not going to go into the details of my choice. Just know that it is based in medical facts, no conspiracy theories. I am not opposed to vaccination in general, nor particularly to the COVID-19.

Having established my position, I'd say that Ford (or any other company) should not mandate the vaccine. We are giving up our rights in this epidemic, trading our freedom for safety, to a government that cannot ensure our health or safety (No one can). As Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

If I am old enough to drive a car, smoke, drink, have children, work and pay taxes... Why am I being treated as a dumb child now by the government? Why I cannot take a decision with my life, like smokers do, or alcoholic do? BTW, the chances of me dying of COVID-19 are pretty low. Still, I use mask and follow all the rules. I am being responsible with my life and others around me.

Going back to the OP's thread, what reasons could any company provide to mandate the vaccine? The workers that are doing the job remotely, can continue doing it like that indefinitely. The ones going to physical locations are being doing it for a while without any vaccine. If it is not safe enough, why the company is allowing it? If it is safe enough, the company cannot mandate the vaccine.

Thanks

Those who choose not to, should be required to continue remote work until sufficient herd immunity is achieved.

There are people who have severe allergic reactions to vaccines and others who cannot due to religious beliefs. These individuals should not be forced to take the vaccine. Other than that I can’t imagine why people wouldn’t want to or why Ford wouldn’t require them to do so. People have the freedom to make choices that have a negative impact on their own lives but this virus is very contagious and people should not have the “freedom” to pass potentially life threatening diseases to others sharing the same space. I know people who have become really ill, two who have been hospitalized and two who lost their lives because of COVID so I don’t question the seriousness of this disease. Hopefully there will be enough people getting vaccinated to allow all of us to enjoy a reasonable normal life in the near future.
