Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T Failures

This company really needs to stop trying to develop applications and platforms. Consider all the recent failures:
SD-WAN
E-Comp
SDN
DCAE
vCDN
Black Flag

Millions invested and all turned out to be major flops.

There is no in house talent to successfully develop applications. The software outsourced to india is c-ap!

One acronym I cannot type with laughing is D2!

JD is a management consultant. Constructing initiatives like Industry 4.0 or whatever is literally what they do.

When the "framework" doesn't work, the consultant moves on to the next client. For further details, see 'House of Lies'

Here's more to your list

  1. Digital Life
  2. AT&T TV
  3. removing the internal help desk and outsourcing to RST
  4. removing desktops out of stores and giving employees ipads to use instead
  5. using 3rd party apps to do the job that the desktop did just fine but now that we are using ipads, we just sit and wait for the message..... hang on, we're almost there........... as the customer looks at you and can see the latency we have
  6. scanners that go with the ipads - total piece of c-ap. Something out of the 80's
  7. Buying directv and running it into the ground
  8. getting rid of uverse because we had to - cause directv is working so well. See # 7
  9. directvnow - this had enron written all over it - with some wells fargo for icing
  10. Siebel - thank god those days are over

I know those foundries are not on your list but were those not software based and all the rage and then turned to dust over night when Elliott told them emperor has no clothes and cut the expense. Damn Donovan should have never been CEO of telecom. We lost three years to his software c-ap

"And are those people who messed up still around?" At which level? "Leadership" rams an idea through, no matter how inane and then fires the poor employees who acquiesced to their inane ideas.

One acronym I cannot type with laughing is D2! Anyone who knew how much performance was dependent on custom silicon in big routers knew how ridiculous the concept was. Of course since "leadership" is always right, no one who knew dared voice an opinion but heck, this is the late great AT&T.

DCAE and DMAAP were to be introduced in all new projects and delayed so many projects... just pathetic and then projects money gets cut and they go start something new and never finish the 1st project.
