Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Being poached for a management position

Hello. I currently work as a GM for a large restaurant chain and was approached to turn in my resume. I am not sure if I want to leave where I am at now. I was told that this is a great company to work at, the benefits are above average compared to others in the industry and that I would enjoy it immensely. I checked out reviews and they seem to be above average. I happen to come across this site when I searched for layoffs. Can anyone tell me if this is a normal occurrence here and what your work atmosphere is like? I appreciate any input, good or bad.

I would suggest against it. can’t attract talent anymore. too many locations with high turnover. unreasonable expectations and really just an uninteresting place to work. They pay pretty well, but the nonsense out weighs that. I had 15 years in and after i left my life improved so much.

Don't do it. Whole Foods used to be a great place to work. Now, it's a hell hole with massive turn over, especially in the prepared foods department, which has gone from serving good food to serving sub-standard food at restaurant prices.

So I have to wonder what qualifications of yours made them porch you. Because that explains the direction they are taking from this point on.
Here is what needs to be said if that has to be the case.
No one really talks about this problem as much as this one race is the majority in most stores. For example when your STL and ASTL are both Hispanic and the majority of workers are Hispanic what do you think has been happening. It’s pretty much exactly like gangs on the streets: the Hispanic team makes an alliance with the next majority racial group, and they bully the rest.
Regional office communicates only with STL and ASTL and what do you think they will tell the regional office.
They made the stores their neighborhood streets with the encouragement of the store leadership. This is just the fact.
So where and how do you fit in this picture?

I agree with the last comment. If you are honest and fair Whole Foods will eat you alive, stress you out and make you miserable. If you think you are going to change the attitude of ,hire and promote only certain groups of people, there are too many in management like that already. If you have decent benefits and like what you are doing I would say, count your blessings. Stay where you are. Whole Foods restaurants are terrible and the person that wants your resume probably hopes you can clean things up. Think long and hard and do your homework before leaving your job for WFM.

I don't know what to tell you if it were to help you. I don't know you to want to convince you as if this is a good company to work for.
But I can tell you what I think we should want from someone who would be STL (considering you are GM of a restaurant or something) like yourself. What is your decision making process like? I’m going to be direct. Are you a Hispanic who is trying to be the boss of all Hispanics at the cost of other races and put your key-people for your convenience in positions so that you can spy on workers? Or are you the one who would genuinely use this opportunity to create more opportunities for people who work not only hard but have been building the knowledge that requires to help the organization succeed?
Are you the one that would operate in order to secure your position & your bonus at the cost of hard working TMs and give some crumbs to TLs and STLs to keep them kiss your a–?
