backroom truck schedule

Any other clubs fed up with the way WE are catering to truck scheduling? We have 2 water trucks and a paper truck scheduled back to back starting every hour beginning at 5 plus our fresh trucks that can put a wrench in it all because they show up whenever and take one of only 2 open dock doors so we get backed up! Tired of the truckers getting mad at us, checking in all the local vendors who think they need to come in at 4-6, screening at covid station and taking care of claims and only 1 day a week there's 3 of us. We need ALL full time and help from mgrs! We shouldn't be the covid screeners!

All the leads should be covid acreening their own areas. They do in my club.

And they have the nerves to start backroom off at $15 what a slap to the face ..no way we should start off at the same as a cart pusher or cashier.with all of the responsibilities we have to do

Nah. Fresh trucks are pretty darn irrelevant.

Our fresh trucks that get there in the morning get a door when they arrive even if a truck has to be pulled out for a while while the fresh truck is unloaded. The other drivers give c-ap on it, they get reported and reprimanded. Fresh trucks always get priority. Period!

We have 1 or 2 merchandisers that help in backroom if we BEG the opening mgr! We have had the self covid screening kiosk sitting in the steel for over a month! Just wish someone from home office( that can actually change things) read the comments on this site, but no one will nor if they did, would they care!

And all this company does is tell us we should be paid the same as cashiers. Ridiculous that the pay scale is the same now.

The fact that after 12:30 NOBODY in the building seems to have the brains nor the ability to unload and receive a water truck, paper truck or much less check in a simple pile of boxes from FedEx or UPS is symbolic what a farce this entire ‘Backroom’ structure truly is. The 11am merchandisers are supposed to be fully trained on these things and should be able to take over after the 4am crew leaves should anything show up. If something does happen to get unloaded after 12:30 the invoices just sit there waiting for the 3pm crew to receive into the system (usually unverified) and if packages are dropped off from UPS or FedEx those packages just sit there waiting for someone else to take care of. It’s absolutely pathetic.

Back room is a joke. A year and a half later and the evening back room associate is still not trained on claims.

The scheduling needs to be looked at with the trucking companies making their own times. We shouldn’t have 2 days where we are scheduled every hour from 4-9 am. Spread this out over the seven days. Seems Saturday & Sunday there might be 1 truck scheduled all weekend.......? Managers can be sitting in the receiving office chatting and you are by yourself & trying to unload trucks, check bread in & associates show up to be screened and they just sit there!!!! No help!!! Wish corporate would just show up unexpected & talk to hourly associates!!!

The truck schedule would be manageable if the back room head count wasn’t broken. If night shift still existed the morning head count would be perfect. There should be 120 hours for day back room and 80 hours for the evening. You would have options to split that up like 2FT and 2Pt in morning or 3 FT. Evening would be 1FT and 2PT or 2FT.

Instead, they decided that all the merchandisers should learn how to receive trucks. Problem with that is, they can’t even get their own work done.

I think they will have to cave in eventually as shrink continues to climb. They already want us to verify things the “old” way, which takes too much time, with the current staffing.

I’m glad to hear that our club is not the only one. We have trucks scheduled every hour from 4am to 9am plus all the ones that don’t schedule. We sometimes get 2 paper trucks , 2 water trucks, Pepsi and coke all in one morning plus meat and produce. Then you get Bunzel , eggs , milk and ice. This is with just 2 people scheduled. When someone goes on vacation you are by yourself at least 2 days. Oh and don’t forget all the bread vendors and opening the back door for the associates to come in. They seem to space themselves out every 4 minutes. FedEx and ups show up right before one of you goes to lunch if your lucky to one and by that time it’s time to go home, but before that you have to stack up all the pallets laying around on the dock and working there way out to the sales floor. Oh and all the check list too need to be done. You should have been out of there by 12:30 it’s now 1 and your business members want their pallets loaded onto their trucks and you seem to be the only one left to do it. By that time management comes back and wants to know how many JB hunt truck are left and how many you did that morning. Why are you not taking a lunch and no overtime.

We contact the water, paper people to let them know to reschedule which they do, problem is they never notify the truckline. Usually have empty walmart trailers taking up docks. The covid prescreen is a pain because as we are unloading trucks, checking local vendors, we have to stop what we're doing to check associates in and of course they come in anytime from 10 min early to 15 min late! When someone goes on vacation it's a joke! We need at least 2 people during the week but that's impossible because we also work weekends! VERY FRUSTRATING and no one cares!

Managers and team leads should be the only people screening period. We have problems with water trucks too. Don't get one for a few days then 2 or 3 in 1 day. I try and help my backroom associate as much as I can as a merchandise lead. I feel your pain. An yes managers should help when needed, our club manager has jumped on a lift when needed.

Let them get mad. They can leave. Just tell them exactly that. LEAVE if you don’t like appointments.

No, you shouldn’t be the covid screeners .. that is BS. I am also sick of all the truckers getting mad and some coming in whenever they want no matter when their appointment is ... and just expect us to drop everything for them . We had a water driver 1 day late and he shows up at 5:30 and said we had to unload him ... we had 1 open dock door and 4 trucks outside waiting ... he was mad when I told him he would have to wait or go away ... he ended up waiting and our 2nd shift unloaded him
