Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Working on an AT&T Story...

Hey all,
This is Mark Dent, a journalist with Texas Monthly. I'm working on an in-depth story about AT&T as it goes through lots of restructuring and moves to disrupt the entertainment industry. I am trying to get lots of perspectives from employees.

If you would be willing to speak with me or could pass along info to any employees who may be interested, please send me an email. If needed, we could speak on background and I could keep your identity anonymous. Just please reach out to me at mdent05@gmail.com if you're interested.

Thank you

I sent an email to Fox's Cavuto years ago, SBC was my internet service provider. As a techie, I had some software on my PC and I was notified by that sofeware that SBC was sniffing my email contents. Yep, security was monitoring me at my home. Caused me to encrypt my email, send it to a overseas resender via a vpn network. Then I started calling the jerk in security every midnight at his home tel number that I pilfered from his pecker tracks left at his work ip info after finding him in phone. Called that Tur.D for years off and on at midnight.
So moral of story is plan you info you send carefully. Yes, t does monitor and will retaliate.

To @4kur,
So send it using the Opera Browser with VPN from anywhere in the world.
Site Facts. Don't use loctions i.e. DLLSTXRIDS0 nor use specific titles, names, or specific events.
Change them up a little bit- the real story was someone at AUSTTXHODS0 used to dump his coffee into the entry building plants k–ling them and the coffee money kept disappearing every time the company mailman delivered the holey enveloped mail.
Use generalities as in My co-worker "Mikey" p1ss3d in my Bosses plant that she had in her office.
She noticed that the plant smelled like urine and that her desk lock looked like it had been jimmied.
She slid a paper match stick in center and gently closed the door such that if the middle drawer was opened the match would fall inward out of sight. Also, she contacted security and had a camera installed inside her bookcase. When the night time offender came in at midnight, he was captured peeing in the plant on his way out of her office after fumbling thru her desk.

I have an email written up and ready to go sitting in the drafts folder.

I'm arguing with myself over if I should send it or not. Here's why:

The company will likely go after any employee who speaks to the press that contradicts their rosy depiction of how well we're doing as a company and how appreciated we are as employees in general. Let's just say that the view from the golden towers where the executive levels dwell is always golden since they basically win the lotto every year. I would have a rosy outlook too if MY yearly bonus was more than the typical rank-and-file employee makes in a lifetime.

If you want a good take on what we as employees think of this company, you should ask the company to give you access to the ePCR survey results we take every year. ( If they have nothing to hide they have nothing to fear right ? ) I'm fairly certain you'll find all the answers you'll ever need to what we think about AT&T there :P ( They'll never release those results though as shareholders might get the impression that all is not well in the land of Oz . . . . . )

Yes, we all know that retaliation is quite illegal yet, we also know that the company will simply find something else ( totally unrelated, we swear ) to fire us with. We're trying hard to dodge the layoff axe as it is, we don't want to add fuel to that fire if we can avoid it.

The stories we can tell would span volumes I think. . . . if only we could tell them without destroying any chance at a retirement in the process :P

So, Mr. Dent, how about a story on the Nashville bombing. Seems to me, that not only ATT, but also the Feds have been suspiciously quiet on that.

If you want to write a story out all the bad things that have and are happening with this company, you are going to need to write a novel instead of an article.

Tiffany's?

2010s and 2020s
A media report in early July 2013 revealed that former Tiffany & Co. vice president Ingrid Lederhaas-Okun had been arrested and charged with stealing more than $1.3 million of diamond bracelets, drop earrings, and other jewelry. According to prosecutors from Manhattan, the official charges filed against Lederhaas-Okun accused her of "wire fraud and interstate transportation of stolen property."[44]

The company's Francesca Amfitheatrof-designed Tiffany T collection debuted in 2014.[45]

In February 2017, the company announced that CEO Frédéric Cuménal was out of a job, effective immediately, after only 22 months, blaming weak sales results. He was replaced on an interim basis by the company's longtime former CEO, Michael Kowalski.[46] Shortly before his abrupt departure, Cuménal had appointed former Coach designer Reed Krakoff as the company's new chief artistic officer. Although Krakoff had had no previous experience with jewellery design, his previous success with Coach and "deep understanding of iconic American design" led to his appointment, with the hopes that Krakoff would be able to refresh the image of the brand.[47][48]

Basically it goes like this, every quarter our finance people go up to wall street and give them some song and dance about how we are turning the corner and raising the dividend. At the same time about 4,000 employees ( usually those over 45 years of age or so ) or so are on a call lasting about 60 seconds with HR telling them business s—s and their pension is history. These people are cut to make the dividend numbers. Either everyone else gets their workload or their job is taken over by an outsourcing company. Been going on like this since Randall took the company over from Ed, maybe even before.

Mr. Dent, thank you for doing this.

Very few outside of ATT including customers and shareholders know what is going on. Tucker Carlson did a segment on it last year and aside from that not much gets out.

I think you will hear from more retirees as employees would be scared of being outright fired for cause and loose their pension if they have one.

The big story is that Ratty (Randall) and Stinky mismanaged the company purposely while enriching themselves and the BoD.

Wall Street very rarely oust a Board. This is what is needed before the company is sold, broken up or goes bankrupt.

Already done. Depends on what you define as being disrupted. Refer to the AOL Time Warner story. Rinse, repeat. History rhymes. Logic and critical thinking go out the window when deal fees, market maker fees and other deal compensation is proffered to the decision makers, and taken into account. It explains why the emperor needed new clothes in my opinion.

Yes, my spouse was a second level and received $2,000. I think those checks were handed out thru District level. Just think of the stories of misadventure we could tell Mr. Dent would probably set him up for a Pulitzer.

Morale has been low since 1975, the year I started work here. Just when you think it can't get any worse - it does. Back then EEO was a big part of the dissatisfaction. Women & Minorities getting the better jobs. Why? EEO!
The #1 reason up to current was when Pope refused to give anyone a raise. Went years, no raise.
I suppose those of us working at low wages didn't deserve any money, but he did. Based on his girth, he dined well.
Then Pope retired, Caldwell came in and talk about surprise - there was a $1k check in every 1st level management in box. Don't know what other levels/occupational employees got but at the time I was a 1st level and when I "opened the envelope" - I almost suffered a heart attack & the attached letter lent hope for a better future that really NEVER MATERIALIZED.
Anyone remember those checks here? Comments?

I am an ex-employee. I don't think I want to increase my chances of going to a Democrat Communist reeducation camp by talking with a reporter about my time at AT&T. Good luck with the report, though.

Unfortunately you are in the wrong place if you’re looking for thoughtful intelligible comments from actual AT&T employees. The posters on this board consist of Qanon AT&T employees, disgruntled ex-employees and T-Mobile trolls.

At least the reporter is being straightforward here.

I'd suggest Mr. Dent look into the relationship between Stankey and Stephenson.

  1. How was the most disastrous CEO in company history somehow able to install his mentee as his successor?
  1. Stankey keeps losing ground to Netflix and Disney, who are mopping the floor and Disney. Is he accountable for his performance, or is he above that?
  1. Why is the board not exercising oversight? Does it rise to the level of negligence? If not, how much worse would it have to be?

Well Mark, this company isn't disrupting anything (LOL), other than decimating the wealth of its shareholders.

This company is so thoroughly mismanaged it only knows how to compete by buying the competition. Unfortunately, arrogant and incompetent AT&T management then proceeds to ruin the business they purchased. The story ends several years later when said business is sold for a fraction of the purchase price.

As for the employee perspective, I have NEVER seen morale this low. Not just workers but at the lower levels of management too. The workers have given up on this company and are just doing time now.

Useless for reporters to ask for company perspective here. Workers here just know how to complain about executives making more than they do. Wah!
