Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Recent Layoff History

Go read some AT&T articles on Light Reading or Fierce Telecom and see how many employees have been involved in layoffs or early buyouts. Over 47k and counting the last few years also changes/reduction in benefits below the C-suite all while they are getting very large raises and bonuses. Employee morale below the Board and top heavy C-suite is extremely low while trying to be engaged in a toxic, micromanaged, and ever changing work environment.

The stock has dramatically gone down and didn’t return like the majority of the market during this pandemic , despite majority of people streaming and working from home. The 7k hard hat jobs never materialized after the corporate tax cut as promised by the just retired (274k a month retirement paycheck plus benefits/perks) CEO Randall. They seem more focused on social engineering and politics than business but alas it seems the same in a lot of corporate America these days.

Congratulations! They just exceeded a very low expectation from Wall Street. Time to layoff more employees in celebration and raise the C-suite bonuses

Their focus is on the shareholders only! Employees don’t matter anymore but have become a commodity to be laid off or outsourced whenever possible. Greed is King!

Just show up for your paycheck and save as much as possible, welcome to NWO.

It’s the BOD and C-suite that don’t give a fack about you, your family or community! Their only concern is about the fastest way to do the number shuffle for the next Wall Street financial meeting/call.

It takes too much time to poll employees for voluntary reductions. The Wizard of OZ would be exposed! Rebadging and outsourcing after wholesale layoffs to other contractors is much more efficient. You are just a number now and are paying for the many poor decisions and terrible leadership!

Most corporate American companies that are laying off or downsizing and are presenting their impacted employees with a severance package have the consideration of asking first the employees willing to accept a package rather than a blanket layoff. Not T, it just goes from one organization to another and just cuts everyone and anyone no questions asked! How ruthless is that! Why not poll the entire company first and see who is willing to accept a severance package! Probably could have save a lot more positions for personnel that really need to continue working...ruthless, absolutely ruthless...

A 2020 plan was in place to downsize, right size, reorganize, spread the peanut butter unevenly or any other euphemism they could come with for layoffs, rebadging and outsourcing. All businesses of size and age go through technical and product changes thus some positions become nonexistent or non-essential (it’s a given).
There was also a 2020 employee plan to retrain with new skills and receive nanodegrees (on their on time) because people were told they were at risk of losing their positions. Wonder what happened to that plan?

What has happened in the last decade at this company by the Board and C-Suite is on a whole different scale and scope. It’s downright unethical, immoral and sometimes criminal. There is a reciprocal difference between the Board, C-suite and all the rest of employees. Pay, bonuses, perks, benefits and work conditions have never been better for C-suite and above while, the rest of employees are working in toxic environment with reductions in all the above including layoffs.

Kinda reminds me of another class in this country that voted in a new medical system in for the common person but didn’t change their medical plan because it wasn’t good enough. They think they are special and can’t be replaced (Lords vs serfs).

"The company is using the pandemic as an excuse to layoff" unless it's changed recently that is not the case. Surplussed workers were told in writing that their release was not covid related, and they had to sign off in order to get their payout. Or so I heard

First, they came for the switchboard operators, then they came for the long-distance operators, ...

(Automation isn't going to end. AT&T is not as efficient as Verizon yet, but they need to be in order to compete.)

"The company is using the pandemic as an excuse to layoff"

how could you possibly think that? were you entirely unaware of the plan to downsize the number of employees announced up to 5 years prior to 2020? but no. you think it has something to do with lies about a pandemic

Trailer parks? That's the best argument you have? I don't see people blaming minorities at all. Mainly, because there are no minorities in the executive level of this organization with the exception of the token roles. These race based decisions are being made by spinless white people who already succeeded on the backs of black, poor, hard working, etc.

I guarantee the first commenter doesn't live in a gated community. These guys usually live in a trailer park and blames minorities for it.

The company is using the pandemic as an excuse to layoff, reduce benefits, outsource and sale assets for all the poor leadership and decisions over the last decade. Wall Street knows thus, the low stock price. Only trying to keep the dividend going is keeping it from being in the tank but it’s at the expense of all the above listed reductions.

Keep on trolling, Trolls. Your days of unregulated greed and no morality is coming to an end.

Thanks for playing troll, are you enjoying your gated club lifestyle on the backs of others? The jig is up, Americans are tired of the NWO attitude of the race for the lowest wage, outsourcing and layoffs while, the policy makers and elite become more enriched (GREED).
