Now that internet providers are putting data caps in place, I wonder if that will eventually bring some customers back to TV services.

And isn't TPG the ones that bought Alltel and sold them to VZ? They made some bank on that one if I recall correctly.

It's hard to imagine TPG being so foolish, but sometimes greed gets the best of all of us.

@1bmu+192wiRNu it's not "100s of millions" it's barely 10s of millions and every quarter the number keeps shrinking, that's the point you DIRECTV proponents don't get.

Places like DIRECTV that make people "rent" the box is EXACTLY why streaming services were created. You can ONLY get away with duping the customer into subsidizing your capex when you have all the leverage, and years ago that's how the cable buisness were but not any more.

And before you make the "but rural areas don't have internet" argument , it's being worked on, by many groups.

Some of you have no ideal how much money directv really makes this company and how much protection plans and service tickets make them
Truck roll for customers with protection plan min 200$ paid ever 90 days
Revenue off protection plan 100 of millions
Customers paying for equipment 100 of millions
Cost them nothing to roll a tech one big scheme sorta like owning a trash service and landfill customers pay for trash pickup you charge your truck to dump the trash at your dump 🙄

It's really sad when the only way this company can get its stock price up is by selling off pieces of its business for a fraction of what it paid. At least we can hope DTV will be better managed with new leadership.

get rid of all DTV and Stankey with it. Both are mistakes ...Stank needs to be investigated for wasting billions of $ and ruining employees' lives - he needs to end up like the Enron CEO. DTV is a obsolete business and will die ... values will continue to go down and very rapidly.

Stankey led the charge to buy DTV and now they made the id–t CEO and he is laying off and outsourcing jobs to pay for his mistakes. His webcast showed the id–t we have as CEO
