Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Thoughts on the restructure?

I thought there would be more activity on this forum considering this could potentially be the real beginning of the end of DSD. What are we thinking about the new structure? It seems like they are creating this new REM position that oversees the FTOR/SSR as a test to see if they can continue to have the same results as having a SR in those stores. If this new structure continues to have the same results, then I think they would move the FTOR/SSR into the class A, B and C stores and further eliminate the SR. Considering we have CAO/EDI in all of the A, B, C stores, they would just be in charge of throwing cases and "selling the big displays". Eventually, I can see Mondelez going warehouse, keeping these FTOR/SSR around to just sell and take pictures, just like Kellogg and Hershey.

Really would like to hear what everyone is saying!

since before nabisco was owned by rjr....long time! PTO was grandfathered...although Mondelez did take a week away as well as two floating holidays when we split from Kraft.
i also have no 4 year college degree, but I am sales rep. That too would never happen today!
I wouldn't focus on that, think more about what you are doing next to support yourself cause working at Mondelez for the rest of your life......probably not the rest of year!

8 weeks of PTO huh?

How long have YOU worked here?

It's actually impossible to work here now and ever accumulate 8 weeks.

Under the current structure, I could work here for the rest of my life, and I will never be able to get 8 weeks...

I am also not taking the package. But if it does happen, some of that severance money will go in my brokerage account to add more to my positions in $SPCE and $FUBO.

Benefits, PTO, and self respect....a few of the things the "new" (but far from guaranteed), minimum wage would provide. Reps, and I am one, know we won't find another job quite as good or easy as this. i am not taking a package, I will let them terminate me if they want. Company car, 8 weeks PTO, good benefits, and working independently.......not sure it will get this good again.

Pro Sales Rep Here. Here is a hot tip your DM doesn't want you to know.

As Part of the 2021 Affordable Care Act Article 44 Section G1. You are legally entitled to four 1/2 hour bathroom breaks a day. Thats 10 hours a week, 40 hours a month, 520 hours a year! That comes out to 65 days a year of legally protected paid time.

No sales reps are looking for a package and can’t wait to get out. Who would want to be a full-time order rider or a merchandiser for $15 an hour and have to burn gas and wear and tear on your car when pretty soon we could go anywhere for the minimum wage of $15 an hour like a greeter at Walmart.

Maybe the REM will do the selling, and the merchandisers will throw the freight?

Pepperidge Farms has a small group of reps that go out, and their job is to sell in displays. Keebler has something similar going on with their warehouse model.

There's really no telling what the companies plans are, all speculation for us. They will share the plan one level at a time as they unfold it, on a 2pm call, without any warning.

Thats when we'll know what's changing.

Not sure where the person is who kept saying, "told ya so", but I think they were right! This exit has been in the works for so long....new DC's, closing warehouses, etc.. I feel badly for those that chose not to recognize the red flags, but those flags were all there!

Haha! Now that's funny. THE ONLY ADVANTAGE TO DSD IS SALES, NOT MERCHANDISING! That is a very far fetched thought, sorry!
The reason this effects sales reps NOW is because the are not eliminating DSD at this point, it is being phased out over time. Merchandisers are needed till the end, and the turnover on merchandisers is so high they will continue to hire until the last DSD truck is delivered.
This ain't rocket science, don't over think things!

I thought they were going to get rid of DSD. I've now changed my mind. DSD is staying, SALES REPS ARE GOING! Clearly they will just have low paid workers, without cars doing the work. Yes, they will not do as good of a job, but then again the company will save money on salaries and cars, so I guess it will balance out for them, and they'll do away with the sales force. It's all about the control, saving a quarter, and enslaving people for low pay.

Does any one know the requirements for a store to be considered a D store? I've saw GCO stores mentioned. What is that ?

Wait I thought they sent us those Oreo masks as a sign that they appreciate us and are committed to DSD?!

I think people are still too busy wiping themselves off after sh!#ing themselves last week to comment on this forum. My EOI will be signed this week

Also surprised at lack.of activity here. Sales rep for 27 yrs here. Pretty sure I'm signing EOI. Future of jobs as we know them is on a downhill spiral.

The answer is pretty obvious! And why would they want to pay someone at the top of the pay scale, when they can pay someone at the bottom for the same work. Face it, it's not rocket science! Very far from it!

Same here, long time Sales Rep. 16 total stores, 7 will be CGO and 5 will be D stores. So I’ll be writing orders in 4 stores. Hmmm. Do they really need me?

30+ year rep. 14 stores in my territory. 7 will be CGO and another 4 will be D stores. Nobody is willing to tell us how many reps they want to eliminate. Going to be left hanging in the breeze for 5 weeks until they tell us who stays and who goes.

There are eliminations for RMS as well as DM, teams will be effected.

They really need to look at eliminating the RMS which is a useless position. They literally sit on their computers all day and come up with schedules that make no sense. They don’t even need company cars as they never leave their house. Start with that job first, not the people that are actually doing all of the work in store.

I heard that Class D is considered any store that does less than 8k/ month

Agree! as much as this forum has been a complete guessing game and false statements for years ! There has been little chatter ! This will be a big change moving forward because !! no one is talking because no one knows what the he’ll is going on because that’s what they do don’t tell you anything ! But all upper management say oh it nothing come on!!

volume, how much they sell. No reason to pay a sales rep to go into a "low volume" store with little to no selling opportunity.

anyone ever seen a list of class stores? id love to know how the class is determined,,,what makes a d a d store

Agreed. This is just the first step in totally eliminating dsd. And I imagine many stores will classified as D stores. Full time merch will eventually be doing all of the work.
I wouldn’t be surprised if half of the sales reps are let go with this first wave.

What doesn't get cut now, will get cut soon! This is absolutely a step further in the direction of eliminating DSD.

Our team has lots of class D stores we are looking like 2 or 3 reps will be gone or given a choice to be full time order writer on class d.
