Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Any *good* depts left?

Are there any departments or business segments that are good anymore? By good I mean ethical, put customers first, treat their staff right? You know, live up to all the things the keep saying (but I only see the opposite)

There are many, many departments lead by good people. The problem is that the leadership they report to is greedy and those good people are forced to make decisions they don't agree with. Many leave because it is impossible to be a strong manager with UHG. You're not given the tools you need. Ever year we have record earnings, but RRP and Merit budget is a joke. The budget this year was so small that you can't give a 5 a respectable raise because that means your 3s and 4s get 1% or nothing at all.

Yes, there are a few managers that put their staff first. They are truly few and far between.

@ojl+193b3HHR perhaps I should put it in a more clear way - are there any departments that are being lead by good people? The things you suggest, I do. But have been shamed for being too nice. I don't scare my people enough. So for upper leadership, I'm a failure. What areas are there where upper leadership show the values they preach?

You can be ethical, put customers first, and treat your colleagues right and act with grace and equanimity no matter where or what situation you find yourself. The accumulation of the paths you walked, attitude, competence and the ability to network separates a person from being ineffectual and choosing to put yourself in a position to make real change. If nothing else, you can make the day more pleasant for the people around you with whom you spend the bulk of hours in your waking day.
