There's been people RA'd before who relocated for IBM colocation BS.
Don't think for one minute if you relocated you're safe from layoffs.
Last communication I got regarding the move to Columbia was that the date had been extended out to June 30th, 2021 at the earliest. That was back in Nov. No other communication. My fear is if they drop the move requirement all together they will turn around and get rid of all of us that elected to move. Only reason we were offered it was they needed bodies for the center. I don't want to move at all. Think its totally stupid given all jobs are being done at home. Holding out hope that Newco will put a stop to it. Also doing my best to network, job hunt and position for another job. I foolishly held out hope that once the 60 day freeze was up I could look for something in IBM but now see that the freeze was extended out permanently. No one identified as going to Newco can apply for anything in IBM. Just love when a company takes away all your control over your career.
I think I had some unused Blue Points back when I got RA'd a few years ago. I wonder if I can request them back so I can get a coffee mug ? hehe
To the one who received Blue points , my Manger sent Blue points a few days before he RA me.I guess he felt guilty picking me.
IBM wants you to relocate and work remotely from there.If that makes any sense.
What ever happened to the relocations to Columbia, MO for the GTS peeps who chose that over layoffs? I know the offices are still closed, but were they still required to move to the new state?
I didn't get a letter. Did receive some Blue Points and got a cool mouse pad.

Yes, GTS is gone... the NewCo CEO has already started and the spinoff is closing soon.
The deadline to relocate has been extended 3 times now due to pandemic.
I highly doubt they will re-open the centers anytime soon.
Besides, IBM needs to save $ not waste it leasing useless office space.

From what I understand is if you're in GTS you will get an offer letter to move, if you do not accept the offer you are essentially quiting. If you do not get an offer you're pretty much RA'd.
