Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Fun to Watch Intel get Its Due

As a retired Intel supplier (30 years) I witnessed so much dishonesty, arrogance, and corruption. Dealing with AMD and TSMC was always a straightforward effort. But more important, when calling on Intel, was to bow and sc-ape and tell all the pinheads in procurement that they were so wonderful. They love the Japanese suppliers who will smile and bow in supposed subservience....and then immediately transfer all the Intel secrets to Korea via Japan. TSMC is run by a bunch of focused hard-working pros while Intel is staffed by a bunch of wimpy arrogant woke Portland people who think they can protect their intellectual property with contracts. Likewise, AMD was always just focused on the work rather than arrogance. Great to see Intel where it is today. I wake up every day and thank God I no longer have to deal with the wimps at Intel.

If you did not perceive arrogance, perhaps you were guilty of it.

I agree with the OP. There's a lot of arrogance at Intel. Always been that way. The GSM people overcompensate and are arrogant so they can be competitive when "RnR" happens. It's naive to think that the Asian suppliers don't trade inside info. It's good business.

Looks like the OP has a lot of time on his/her hands.. Lots of assumptions made here don't make any sense 🤔

The 90s saw too many Intel people who projected arrogance. It’s probably not too different than those star-bellied sneeches from Dr. Seuss, as the snootiness comes from being part of a group they perceive as the source of their ego. Just ask any long time Best Buy employee that’s located near an Intel site on how some Intel employees treated them.

The saddest part is how many of them survived the job cuts of the 2000s/10s. Perhaps some higher-ranking sneech covered for them.

The people that you dealt with at Intel likely aren't at Intel anymore. The people there today had nothing to do with issues you encountered. Holding a grudge against Intel today is like holding a grudge against Germany and Japan for what they did in WWII. Your ill will toward Intel won't affect how it runs today. It will only negatively impact your mental health.

AMD's gone through a gazillion layoff rounds over the years. Things may be looking up now, but it absolutely wasn't a great place to be as a high stress pressure cooker environment. They were bowing and sc-aping and giving away the farm just to get people to work with them, so doubtless from a vendor's standpoint they looked pretty good.

Did you work at AMD or TSMC? Compared to the culture there Intel is haven

I agree with the OP on the arrogant attitude that Intel projects, but the Japanese suppliers legally or illegally transferring technology to the Koreans doesn't make sense.

I’m curious how you know that the Japanese suppliers are breaking NDAs.

It also seems like there is an assumption that all Asian countries are buddies.

Also, the Japanese culture is known to value respect; the bowing is equivalent to “Hi, how are you? I’m fine thanks.” It is not subservience. It does not even necessarily mean agreement.
