Interesting take on the quality of CVE versus Husky subsurface staff. Can we assume that you are referring to the Oil Sands side of the sandbox? I don’t think the same can be said of the DB, where CVE (ex-COP) staff have considerably more experience and expertise. At the end of the day, they all need to work together, or everyone fails and eventually suffers.
Procurement
They're not done yet. Several groups were scheduled for 2 days. The service groups in Husky are basically done.
Some groups didn’t get hit at all. They will. More layoffs coming in March and June.
They’ll do a portion now, I’d guess over 60% overall. Then most of the rest over the next 6 months.
Some groups merging untouched until they sort everyone out. Some getting hit hard now.
But make no mistake - there is a budget and they will cut until they hit it.
I wonder where the biggest hits were today, it seems some groups were barely touched. Don’t see how they will hit their targets.
Yeah the Cenovus techies are a bunch of clowns, most began there careers chasing drill schedules! The Husky folks are a different pedigree, and I would argue technically more suave and contingent base. I work for neither, but can honestly say prefer the Husky group to the CVE group, keep your head high and don’t succumb to the big fish in small water euphemism, there is more in the world than Calgary O&G

Not too many technical subsurface people on the CVE side were let go. In fact, many half wits it seemed got promoted today. And I mean half wits. ......
