Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Tone-deaf psychopaths

There must be a higher percentage of tone-deaf psychopaths at XOM than elsewhere because only on the XOM layoff site are there people who brag about how they’re not laid off and continuing to rake it in or annuitants swanning around in their wealth. Shows the toxicity isn’t because of a competitive work environment. These people are born psychopaths.

What a load of bs. I’ve watched the good old boys club too long to be fed the line of garbage your spewing. There are too many people promoted that did not deserve it and did not work hard.

If you are EM. You better be a tone-deaf psychopath. I came across many in the Upstream RTD.

I think one troll makes up about 70% of the posts you are talking about. I’ve read enough messages here to pick this person out every time they post. This person does not work at ExxonMobil (from more recent posts, they appear to be an environment activist). I caught them when they responded nastily to a post I made. My post was about something comical that happened at the Spring campus, that 100% of the employees would know what I was talking about, this person made it clear they didn’t know what I was posting about in their reply to me.

It's not bragging to explain what kind of salary and bonuses are available at EM based on how well you perform and how much time you have with the company, or how to improve your chances of advancing, etc. It's just information, usually in response to a reasonable question or to correct the usual misinformation that abounds here. The problem arises when this or any other information and facts don't fit the narrative of h*ting EM perpetuated by a small percentage of unhappy employees and trolls,

Simple truth is that the successes of fellow employees that so many envy are actually available to everyone if you put in the time and effort and gain the skills and knowledge. Yea, it's easy to rip some managers making 3x more than you, but guess what, they started at the bottom too. But, no one is going to hand it to you. You will just twist in the wind with no one caring about your endless complaining and unrealistic expectations. Stay or leave, matters not to EM. But it you want to succeed, plenty of opportunities at EM.

There are no 'tone-deaf' psychopaths, OP.
Reading and hearing the Tone is the main art of a psychopath.
Proving only that you are not one.
Congrats.

There are many posts on this board that are sponsored by the company.
Most of these are either gloating or belittling, but very pro-company.
Whether paid as a gig-job or possibly is a new KPI for mid-level managers (20 pro-company posts to the Layoff board = One 'Social Enterprise' merit badge).

On the other hand, the severely negative posts seem sincere.

I am not a bot.

: @jyy+197hzymV You are probably right. Everyone forgets except for the people it happened to.

Some are probably random trolls. I bet a few are not XOM.

It’s supposed to be a site where people can get info about layoffs, not for tone-deaf psychopaths to brag. There’s a distinct lack of empathy from XOM employees on display here that isn’t found elsewhere. And people seem to be proud of it, which is sickening.

Op, did you really believe this to be so clever that it warranted a separate topic post? Not clever, not truthful, just juvenile and desperate. You do know that not all attention is positive, right? Obviously a troll. Try another board. Nobody falling for your deceit and loathing here.

If you've been around any industry long enough everyone will scramble around for a few days after a layoff and forget about it in a week, because people are always coming and leaving anyway. In the oil industry especially, everytime oil tanks all the contractors disappear, and all the small and midsized companies just disappear until the next oil boom when they're back with the same people except now they own a McDonalds franchise or something.
