Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

How Do You Move Up In HSE?

I think this is a good question. DP created several rules on how to move up in the HSE organization. Bascially, what jobs do you need to have completed in order to move to the next leadership position.

It was an excellent process that was well documented.

Unfortunately, that process was tossed out the window when DP decided he would just put personnel that he liked into leadership jobs instead of following the process. He even created a dashboard that would tell you if you were red, yellow or green in meeting the minimum requirements to be promoted.

Just so you know, we tested that dashboard and requirements for all of the personnel reporting to DP and the next level (LT and ELT). NONE OF THEM PASSED THE DASHBOARD. Two were yellow and all of the others were red. We tested the dashboard against the level 24, 25 and one 26 let go and they all were green. Very interesting.

I want to keep my job at Chevron so I could never post this internally or say this out loud at any meeting. Chevron is just like HS especially HSE.

Here’s a thought: get to work and stop whining on the layoff boards.

If you want to move up, you need to learn how to fake like you are a nice and caring person.

HSE, like HR, only promotes cronies, yes-persons, close friends, and relatives. Oh, and they have to kneel before the altar of D&I as well. These two groups, along with accounting, help to balance the fact that technical groups are still heavily white male, even after the Boomer purge.

There are two types of people in this world: the doer and the loser. Which one are you?

@bwb. I guess you don’t think the post is of interest to people that have been laid off?
