Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Do not try to change anything

AT&T only wants yes-men and yes-women working here. Disagreeing with anybody in the management on any level can easily get your name on the list for the next round of layoffs. New ideas or proposals to change something are met with open hostility. And if you think you've been treated unfairly simply because you dared to make a change, you'll get no help from the HR. They'll always protect the company and treat you as the enemy. We are stuck with the way things are being done even if it's obvious that it's not working. That's the AT&T way.

Yes, this all so true. I have always been a top performer. Told Management the cold hard truth about a sinking ship service they tried to automate further using bad legacy architecture. I was trying to be transparent and turn the ship around early on upfront. Got dinged in this performance. On-gong will shake my head like bobble head, up and down and they can build all the throw away c-ap they want that no one is using. Not worth it.

AVPs and up, sit on calls all day, patting each other in the back. They have no clue what the worker ants are doing. They isolate themselves from reality. They are constantly planning the next reorg. It’s important that
att constantly move folks. This way, no one is ever responsible for anything. All issues are the responsibility of the prior guy, who has now moved to another position

Let me say this working for managers that "keep lists" Is a very unhealthy and unproductive workplace. Please bring this up in the next survey..

Sad to say but I agree, if you raise ideas you must do it carefully, if you sound disgruntle you will get a bad reputation and find your name on the list. You need to make positive suggestions that demonstrate benefits to the org/business. It’s all in your attitude and presentation.

Agree with @flv+19AamjB5. The only way I would get retiree healthcare now is if the company lays me off this year. You know the system is messed up when you're wishing for a layoff.

Why would you care enough to even suggest anything? The only thing you can change is your paycheck amount.
And that's all you should be concerned with.
They have so many rules, regs, job duties and extraneous BS it's hard to get any real work done.
Perfect....
Sign here, have a great day!!!

True. You are paid to do, not think.

Given how much they want those 50+ to leave this year with their retirement benefits pulled out from under their feet if they wait until 2022, this could be a very good strategy for many!
