Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

What is "Prior Year N" on pay statement?

My SUB pay that was deposited yesterday has an additional "Prior Year N" under earnings that is more than a few thousand dollars. Any idea what that is? It appears to be taxable and subject to FICA.

Bonuses are for the prior year. While never guaranteed, those calculations usually happen around December and January, and the manager sometimes has the option to still give out the bonus. There were major cuts to bonuses last year, so if you get one, especially after a layoff, it means that some manager was still trying to take care you with whatever remaining tools they could.

From everyone’s comments it sounds like your bonus.
How are you getting your stub so quickly ??
To confirm it is your bonus you should check the portal. And yes your manager should have told you.
But we know how that goes.

It’s your bonus for the same thing. Your manager didn’t tell you?

@1vlr+19C0SnnC, Why not? Sounds like your performance review indicates that you worked hard in 2020, so this is your bonus for last year.

That's strange. I got EE on a few categories of my review but had ME overall. I was terminated in January with 10 months of SUB pay and now they give me a bonus? And there are open recs with my skillset in other places within the company.

N usually means a transfer of some kind. It could be anything! 401k? HSA? ESPP? honestly....it could be anything
