The IBM Austin site had a major outage and it took days to get everything back online. We definitely do not eat our own cooking.

A client has to be a little nuts to ever go for this nonsense. We've had enough news of late with power outages in Texas and workforce presence problems with the pandemic.
How about a REAL calamity, folks? - like an information outage due to satellite sabotage, solar flare, meteor/asteroid hit, etc.
Of course, IBM will take the "Normalcy Bias" route - as in it hasn't happened before (like the power outage in Texas) so it won't happen in the future.
Nothing like having your data (an integral part of your business?) at a PRIVATE DR site or having your own UPS in the basement or parking lot - as opposed to "the cloud" in some storage facility in some basement somewhere you don't know about... until it's too late.
But - this is America. Lessons just have to be learned the hard way.
