Yup we are making mighty fine progress on that diversity goal. Another purge or two and we will have eliminated nearly all the elderly and white males from GSR ranks. No need to do the same for the leadership ranks as the company diversity goals will have already been met with the GSR purge.

We have to remember what is most important here.. Ford is making extraordinary progress in making the diversity goals.

@2awd PERFECTLY SAID in the most simplest way. A screwed up org makes screwed up products. Our Quality says it all. Our senior leaders have spent years re-orging, randomly cutting knowledge, hiring no experience kids, and fast track promoting incompetence. And so here we are. Now these same people are busy making new poster slogans and spewing the newest word salad jargon and planning new layoffs. It never ends. We just keep dancing the same dance while they only change the music.

Conway's law is an analogy, your product will represent your organization and communication network setup within that company.
Screwed up org equals screwed up products.

Same with Communications, this is not rocket science.

@2awd they are discussing Conways law to pretend like they are a data company not a Automobile manufacturer. Oh let’s throw around IT nomenclature and pretend like we understand what it means, then let’s badge all our resource actions as Project Conway cuz then we can say we are taking the resource actions to align our communication structure to optimal outcomes.
Same Sxxx Different Day. Meanwhile the company is in a downward spiral, the worse the company does the more smarmy Ford PR pieces appear in the Free Press.
So glad I am retirement age, this is getting old.

@2ddj,

Placing fake job postings are done for several logical reasons. I have had at least two managers explain this to me, from two different companies. 1. Have a list of fresh resumes in case someone quits. 2. To hold a department budget. 3. H1b process. 4. Failure of commination between HR and management. I am sure there are more reasons. There are "jobs" that have been posted for months even years. They are taken down re-worded slightly, and then reposted to look fresh. This is a common practice throughout the industry.

Sometimes the internal posting are specifically written for persons within that group that they want to promote. The position I hold now (7 years now) I obtained form a job posting and several interviews.

Personally, I'm not sure why a LLx would go through the hassle of putting together a posting just for fun.

Y'all are dumb. Conway's law is about software design.
It states software structure will reflect the organization that creates it.
Huge monolithic teams, create huge monolithic software.
Lots of small distributed teams that all interact, create lots of small distributed software that all interacts.

Which one is better? Neither. It's like asking if a mustang or an F150 is better. Different use cases.

The fact they are discussing conway's law will probably mean some software development teams get reorganized. In which direction is not clear.

This doesn't mean cross the board global salary staff reduction and anyone leaping to that conclusion is just fear mongering.

The old saying where there is smoke there is fire! I think you will see it possibly 4th quarter or early next year. Also Unlike Mark Fields who had a pair. Mark gave ample warnings of cuts. not one or two weeks before they come. So wander morale and trust is gone.

"Wall Street seems to like Farley thus far, so why not announce a massive SRD in hopes of further boosting the momentum in the Ford stock price?"

I wish I could upvote this a million times. This guy gets it. Farley is the type of guy who will do everything that Wall Street asks for to get the stock price up. Announcing a layoff at the last minute is cherry on top of his plan to pump up the stock before he gets retired.

Any cuts in salary reduction at Ford will be a secret until two weeks before it happens. Reality is here the world had to take a really big hit to cover up all the bubbles created with low interest rates. For awhile there I thought the USA was on a come back mission and able so set the standard for the world As it had in the past. The swamp proved to not only to be deep but world wide evil as well. Just because you believe in conspiracy or are paranoid doesn’t mean someone isn’t following you. Save all that you can and move as far from the city as possible, and hold onto your buts.

Does anybody else find it interesting that they never closed the loop on that 1400 buyout number we needed to have hit late last year? While I have not heard of this "Conway" up until reading the threads, the boards were also hot with layoff speculation around the same time, pointing to '21 Q1/Q2. The first wave was (secret) agency, so it would not surprise me to see another SRD under a new CEO. Wall Street seems to like Farley thus far, so why not announce a massive SRD in hopes of further boosting the momentum in the Ford stock price? The higher it goes, the better for the LL5+, most notably the Ford family. Not only do they realize an immediate boost to the bottom line but they also don't have to reprice underwater options et al.

Even the "recruiters" don't know what they are doing.. a recruiter sent me an email about a position, so I call her (the same day) about it and she told me the position was filled. to anyone who gets cut... good luck.. and if you are in a "program management" roll and get cut, you might as well go buy lotto tickets. So if, you're getting calls/emails from recruiters... don't let it go to your head.

The job postings are there so Ford can claim no one qualified applied and then give the job to H1B.

I dont know if the rumour is fact or fiction.

What is abundantly clear is the grand diversified leadership effort has botched all launches, confused everyone on EV plan, spent breathlessly on nonsense, and quietly escorted the true Ford Blue folks out the door.

@1cqv

Most job postings are fake. This is true for the all of the "job" sites ziprecruiter, dice, linkedin.. ect. Companies post fake postings for a number of reasons. H1B process, to hold a budget, and to have a fresh collection of resumes in case someone quits.

I applied for a few of the internal postings
There was no response except one, which was basically a sham interview.

Appears that some/ most postings are part of H1B process

Interestingly one supervisor responded that he cannot hire till Conway is over, which leads me to think that there might be separations

There are 270 jobs listed on the internal job board. Ford is also soliciting resumes through Linken and a few of the other job sites. I would be very surprised if there was a layoff so soon after the buyout last year.

@OP are you sure all the layoffs are in March? There has been talk of some director and manager layoffs and agency layoffs in March and GSR +LL6 layoffs in May.
We will probably read about the layoffs in the freep before Ford leadership has the decency to tell us about them. Of course Farley will have Kumar, the bearer of all bad news, do the lay-off announcement.
