Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

The experiences of those who returned to Verizon?

I have a friend who left Verizon a few years ago. He left on good terms with the company. After 4 years he wants to come back here again.
I don’t think that’s a good idea at all. Even if he got the job again, I think he would be in a very bad position.
Has anyone had a similar experience or knows someone who came back here after a few years at another company?

If he or she VSP'd out, they signed an exit agreement saying they couldn't come back, but there is an exception, which I would think be extremely hard to get unless a VP approves it. If your friend does apply, gets an interview or two and get an exception and offer, they would be very lucky. But I bet the Verizon of 2021 would be very different than the one of say 2018 or 2019.

It seems everyone who leaves comes back. Lots as contractors hoping to get back to full time Depends on the organization heck even the manager though Verizon is really too big to be consistent at all.

If super liberal political opinions and content continuously blasted on the intranet and in webcasts will make you physically vomit, Vz is not for you. It’s like they’ve decided every successful person at Vz was the beneficiary of some unsuccessful person’s misfortune, mistakes and/or systematic-discrimination, even the successful minorities.

It’s a shame because it’s almost as if Vz is taking pitty on poor people and, growing up poor and in a poor neighborhood, that’s the last thing anyone living there wants.

What is missing in poor areas are successful people to look up to, so perhaps Vz should have a Move to Camden Movement, and then we can see how many successful people move there to be an example to those communities.

OP, why don’t you explain why you believe he’d be in a “very bad position”?

If it is an IT job, the culture and environment are extremely toxic and should be avoided.
