Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Utility of the reorganization?

I am in CTC (previous ETC) and can’t see much difference from my chair. They changed the names of leadership positions (team leads become chapter heads, etc. etc.), and are resorting out all new multiple levels of overlapping management, but I can’t yet see the utility of all this reorganization yet. Hopefully it will soon become clear that it is the best ever supercharged by great management foresight and new IT enabled magic.

Original post at thread +19BwAHUB. And I wonder what the utility of the new upstream organization is.

The so-called reorg was nothing more than lipstick on a pig. If you’re in that organization, find your way out into another place before the corporation decides on a true reorganization needs to take place.

Unless you're involved in carbon capture, trendy alternative energy, or D&I, CTC will become increasingly irrelevant. A company doesn't need insight or new technology for an arena it has decided to slowly exit over the next 10-20 years. If you expect a career longer than that, it's time to start formulating a career Plan B.

So, you had a desire to post this on the layoffs forum for some reason or did you think that those who have been let go are in a better position to council you on this topic?

CTC is a cluster right now and everybody knows it.

Nothing changes sweet chicks, it is just the work upper management have to do to show on their PMP and get bonus and justify their high pay, the whole idea behind the reorg is to send a message to investors that the company is adjusting to the new environment etc, but the actual work and interactions never change unless the whole company switches from one industry to other.
