We all get worked up about big waves of layoffs that take place. We feel stress and fear awaiting those big waves and we all have a strong sense of relief when such waves pass.
In those moments we seem to forget that layoffs are an everyday occurrence and that layoffs in smaller portions put more employees out of a job than those that happen in big, organized waves. It sure would be interesting if we knew the numbers of employees who were laid off in such a stealthy manner. I bet most of us would be surprised by the number of jobs eliminated in that way.

I used to stress on getting laid off.....this year I'm hoping for it!!!

Layoff? We have layoff? When did that happen?
I agree, for management. In the last 10 years I often get wind about a smaller whacking in one group or another. It's only the enormous one's that get leaked and cause so much apprehension and notice.
I also think it's unreasonable to have to find out of these by work of mouth or a random departure email or reaching out to a contact to find they've left the company. I wish the company would just publish a list of people leaving.
I'll bet you are wrong.
At least for union jobs.
