Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Less and less motivation to stay?

This company forces people to leave on their own by taking away their benefits. I certainly didn’t work here because I liked the toxic atmosphere, the stress, and being overwhelmed with work, but because of some benefits.
Little separates ATT from those companies that proclaim to their employees that they should be happy to have any job at all.

Quite the contrary with CWA in the West...traditionally outsourced work has been brought back to the ATT technicians. They’re now doing all the work, installing cable throughout customer premises, running fiber, installing backboards for new equipment and even installing a grounding busse and ground wire which is work we rarely if ever did. The problem is since T has become a one-stop shop, techs have no room in their vehicles for materials for all the work they’re expected to perform!

Please remove the post comment regarding ‘strange person who barely speaks English’ from this post. It’s offensive and adds nothing positive here. Oh, and I do speak and write English quite well!
At some point, the monitors on this forum need to do their job and filter out comments like these!

For craft the country club ended about 10 years ago. GPS, MSOC......everything begin to be numbers. Started paying for our insurance, union began a sell out, of allowing jobs to be (THANKS IBEW) contracted out. This is just catch up time for managers!!! Not so funny anymore is it???? MSOC this!!! This is definitely not the company that I decided to commit to 26 years ago. Bellsouth was the best company that I worked for with leadership that truly cared about people to include the employee and customer base.

Except it's all MORE motivation to stay.

If they aren't going to give high timers an out with voluntary offers or layoffs with severance, and they are going to make changes that compromise our retirement, plus k–l pay for performance so ratings don't really matter, the only answer is hang around and collect a salary for longer. What's to stop us?

They could decide to do layoffs without severance, but then they will get age disc lawsuits as no one will be motivated to sign the release.

They haven't boxed us in, they've boxed themselves in, unless they are willing to risk more and bigger outsources to their incompetent greedy 'partners'.

Great subject to talk about! The media reported that there are millions of people who are laid off so they get to draw state unemployment and now federal unemployment for the last year and I am tired of this bs! Go back to work and make less money!Uneffin believable! The truth is that there are so many jobs in the US that doesn’t pay enough money for a single parent to make it!We should replace all of the American workers with people that come over the border and draw unemployment and live off 1000 dollars a week! Are we stupid? Are they smarter than we are?Wthell is really goon on?Could you imagine some strange person that barely speaks English come to your home and install internet or tv service? We need to stand up and make security for our jobs for the future of this business so that no one from another country will take our employment! To hell with the stress and unnecessary bs! We need to stick together and CWAshould back us!
