Did anyone attend Ryan W.'s virtual site visit and come away from it worried? Why is he so set on bringing us back to the office just so we can go for beers after work? He seems worryingly dependant on this algorithm that tells how many people each team needs when obviously we are all short staffed. I have so many thoughts from that meeting I don't know how to keep them all straight for this post.

It’s horrible out there. I was let go last year. It you are 60 it’s a total nightmare. Good luck. Prayers to everyone and myself.
Everyone in Pittsburgh are scared, specially managers and directors. Directors are constantly reshuffling to protect themselves. The most hardworking and smarter are shown the door cause they don’t mingle much and these directors and managers target people with less support. If you gang up or make less than 100k, you do fine.
Any department I worked in ended up changing all BoNY processes to Mellon processes after the merge. They were all a mess and each and every department that did that failed miserably. The disgruntled clients that we serviced got the worst of it since Mellon processes were so unaccommidating. I know of many clients that left after the merge due to the ridiculousness of Mellon processes. I would definitely say that Mellon ruined things - not BoNY.
Ha! BNY was using cash register plus as their electronic banking platform at merger. That right there is all that needs to be said about BNY technology.
@3cnk+19HCh3d2, you should learn the difference between a vax and an IBM mainframe before lecturing us on technology. And did the Mellon internet gui include a splash page and a toaster with wings?
On a side note, when Mellon purchased Dreyfus they toyed with the idea of getting rid of the water coolers in the break rooms.
In 2010, Mellon legacy banking platform back end ran on an internet GUI. Legacy BNY was still using a VAX and command prompts. Mellon definitely had the better technology.
BNY destroyed Mellon? Mellon lacked leadership. Bob Kelly was no leader. he started the downward spiral
Mellon was one of the leaders in the development of the IT industry. They still have impressive capacity, but in reality most of their employees live in constant fear of being let go. That is the true sign of a dying company. The ONLY thing on the minds of BNY management is selling the company and getting a massive golden parachute.
BNY destroyed Mellon, period.
To the anonymous poster from NY, GFY
Of course Pittsburgh employees are jaded. BNY destroyed a great company. Are you seriously mocking Pittsburgh for having greeters when you have duct tape carpet? lol
get out before they show you the door
I agree with you @1rud+19HCh3d2 . Mellon was much better off before the "merger" with BoNY. We had world-class technology and a loyal workforce. The NY carpetbaggers were amazed that officers lower than VPs at Mellon had BlackBerries - only their SVPs an above had them at BoNY. I recall seeing the duct taped carpet in One Wall the first time I went to NY and it was at that instant I knew we were in trouble. All NY has done since then is take Mellon technology and workforce expertise and turn it into the sick, ailing beast it is now. Sad.
FYI-people in Pittsburgh cringed when New Yorkers and New Jersey folk came because they were the biggest, cut-throat rats ever seen. My opinion of people from New York/Jersey had been changed forever.
Why people are so sacred? There are plenty of job out there that pays way more than what you make.
Pittsburgh is an unbelievable mess. Its been that way since the the Mellon merger back in 2007. Those people in Pittsburgh STILL aren't over that. I've never seen such a group of jaded people! They hate everything right now. Folks from NYC that have to travel to Pittsburgh simply cringe at the thought of going there. At OMC and CSC they have used to have a greeter at the front door, just like at Walmart. The greeter was there in case you were a BNY Mellon client or service partner. They didn't want the clients to see, hear, or interact with any employees on campus without supervision, because that's how bad it was there. The greeter would get an escort for the clients so they could be shielded from all the ugliness that was there.
Don’t take the pepperoni slice its a byte and out the door
Pink slip pizza party. If you get a slice with a pink slip on the bottom pack your bags.
