Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Some segments of the company will be sold off?

The rumor about Microsoft buying ATT made me laugh, but on the same thread someone mentioned that they still believe that some segments of the company will be sold off.

I doubt that could happen, at least not in the near future, but I am interested in what are the arguments of those who think that the sale is quite certain?
What are the real reasons why this could happen?

AT&T is facing a trifecta of financial pressure. They are Capital investment, Dividends and debt service and debt reduction. It’s competitors have market values from 7 to 10 times of AT&T!! AT&T is going to have to eliminate employees and employee legacy costs along with some core assets at bargain basement prices!! Look for the sharks to start circling on the wireless network. I could see Apple, Amazon or T-mobile making a run at it within the next 5 years.
