Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Last one out please turn off the lights.

Think back over the past 10 he’ll 20 years. Name one employee benefit that is improved.

health insurance? No. Far worse.
401k? Nope. Gone
education reimbursement and training? Nope. Eliminated
expat assignments and premium, benefits, etc? Nope. Very few opportunities and premiums and benefits cut significantly
cost of living adjustments for those outside Houston? Eliminated.
opportunities for promotion? Nope. Flattening of org reduces opportunities for promotions
I could go in and on. If you think the “vector” of ExxonMobil is up you are an id–t. We are definitely failing fast and need significant improvement.

I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t be looking to get out. I am in my 40’s and well ranked and paid. I am in a management position. I am actively applying elsewhere. If my direct reports can read between the lines I’m encouraging them to do the same.

Last one out please turn off the lights.

Well PPTO just adds insult to injury for me as it was changed shortly after I finished having kids. My experience was to be told I was urgently needed out of country two days after my last kid was born and wife was recovering as an example. The old policy was up to five days but my supervisors were always stingy and counted weekends or other excuses to get me back to the office.

The sad part of all this...
Some employees got CL promotion last year as well as stock options
So to whom they want to keep all this they are still doing.

Nobody was more proud than me when I was hired in 2010

You should feel that it was an honor to work for such a prestigious firm with a fantastic, forward-looking management team at the helm. The experience alone is more valuable than any other experience in your life. You had a good ride, so what’s your complaint?
