Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Retiring at 65?

Why do people automatically assume at 65 you can retire. You have no idea what this guy's financials are. Age should not be the factor - ability should be the factor - for any job. Experience used to be of value to IBM, but they no longer value it.

They want young, because young is cheap.
This new generation of kids, who have set themselves up for the highest college debt on record, have also sold themselves to corporate America for very cheap.

They entitled ones feel the entire older generations should push out of their way, and that they know everything. In reality, their replacements are already coming up through high school now, and will seek to replace them at an even earlier age for once discrimination on a massive level is accepted, it sets the barrier very low for each following generation. For those in Texas, if age was the factor of your RA, look up Kaplan law firm. IBM has been one of the worst abusers in history on age discrimination of folks over 45.

I am an old geezer. I remember working at IBM having nothing to complain about. Now I have one thing to complain about, my job. And when I leave IBM I will have nothing left to complain about.

But if the old geezers move on what will they complain about? The weather?

Why should anyone be guaranteed a job for as long as they want to work? Plan well and live within your means while you have a job. Life is all about decisions. If you are not happy in a job move on. Days of staying with one company your whole career are over. So is days of people joining companies and not contributing like they should. I know this won't be a popular point of view. Just an honest point of view!

Every IBM executive should be fired. They were complicit with “Ginni” orchestrating the biggest business conduct violation in company history...age discrimination. Maybe they are like Andrew Cuomo...they got someone else to read the guidelines for them. How can these AOs look at themselves in the mirror...TRUELY DISPIRITING for all the employees that follow the rules. F$&K IBM...they are getting what they deserve...a beat down by the competition!!!
