Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Overwhelmed by workload?

Heavy workload has always been there, but lately it's really too much. In situations like these, mistakes are inevitable. However, they don’t seem to care at all. I thought it was just a phase and it would pass, but no. There is more and more work to be done. Maybe if I was a little younger, maybe I could take it a little easier, but this way I wonder if it’s even worth staying at Mellon.

The worst part of it is that a lot of the work is pointless and could easily be eliminated if you had a little time. You're just putting out fires because you don't have time or funding to fix things right. It's a vicious cycle that just gets worse and worse. From an IT perspective anyway...

Rather than hire the right amount of people or the right talent they cut to bone and figure mistakes are better than paying people.
Of course they are wrong - but that’s what makes them a terrible company.

For certain their plan is to overwork the employees and hope people quit, especially those with 25+ years, that were EE in prior regime.. they want you OUT and do not care about you.

Sleepless nights, grinding teeth, hair loss , pasty skin from long days and nights stuck on the computer, and a horrible swallowing noise in the throat...this stress is causing many employees here to look like Gollum

They are praying that you quit so they can hire somebody younger at half the price
