Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Buyout coming. Reverse layoff

Hearing rumors of a reverse layoff in the works. Max allowance allowed will be 2 years salary. This will be done to get the senior guys to go and be replaced with new blood. Unions happy new members coming in unlike EIPP where they lose members. Company happy new members come in bottom pay scale and are non pension eligible. Reverse layoff will be voluntary. Of course only pension eligible will voluntarily go

Ahh just woke up from my morning nap check on my lump sum which still is trash after grinding it out for over 30 years. All I know how to do is pull a wire or two and I dropped out of high school so who will hire me if this gravy train stops? I don't have nearly enough saved and I got my truck and Harley payments plus child support and alimony. In my 50's and keep checking this layoff site for hope for a handout even though I can't get laid off why am I here? Oh well back to sleep it the only way to deal with my depression and failed life.

There. Fixed it for ya. Your Welcome.

On Monday, Horgan was walking the picket line outside the company office in Valhalla, north of New York City, when a car trying to enter the facility bumped him, Mt. Pleasant Police Chief Paul Oliva said.

*Climbs on Hood

Horgan then climbed onto the hood of the car, pounding it with his fists, and as the car kept moving the striker slipped from the vehicle and hit the pavement,

I think it is very likely due to the $36B debt they incurred with the C-band auction

(Bloomberg) – Verizon Communications Inc. made an $8.2 billion payment to the U.S. Treasury Wednesday and expects to go to the debt market to help finance the remaining $36 billion due this month for airwaves that the phone giant needs to accelerate growth.

What makes you think a retirement incentive is a handout? They don't have to make an offer, and people will continue to show up for work. If they would like you to leave before you are ready to go, they offer an incentive. Don't be jealous, it may happen for you one day too.

Walking in circles holding a sign and wearing a red shirt is nonsense.

What the hell is a reverse layoff ?

I have been doing the bare minimum for a long time like most of my co-workers. After all, it is part of our culture. The last contract was just one of many I have endured with the silly red shirts and acting immature while I walked around in circles screaming at people who are trying to pay their phone bills. I spend all of my money on various things so I definitely am looking forward to some extra cash to see me through my debt obligations and poor dietary choices which lead to expensive medical bills. Whether you call it an EISP, EIPP, buyout, surplus, reverse layoff or forward layoff - I am ready for my handout. Thank you and god bless my brothers and sisters.

But if I take the buyout, I can buy the doughnut shop, and sell you overpriced coffee and avacado toast. Sweet!!! At least til you're laid off, anyway.

My bucket truck's reverse has not worked since that time I backed into the doughnut shop parking lot.

Do you know if this could happen in the VBG and more specifically the BGCO? I’d love to get out of this toxic culture. We are never good enough at anything. Even when performing or better with all PG metrics we are always told about some other metric or opportunity. Working at Verizon is seriously like being in a verbally abusive domestic relationship. I don’t understand how it’s legal in 2021.

So a "reverse layoff" would be the same as the VSP wireless was offered in 2018 except not nearly as lucrative? Thank God for the UNION!
