Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Low salary offer from Chase

I was recently interviewed for Data Warehouse Senior developer for Ohio position and recruiter gave me offer of only $92K.

Are these normal salary at Chase for this role?

How does the unlimited days work off really work? Do people take off more than 26 days a year?

I agree these cap one benefits sound great but cap one is much smaller than JP and is not a fair comparison.

To be fair JP needs to be compared to citi, wells and bank of America and so do you know any if their benefits?

For starters

  1. Unlimited time off compared to 26 days vacation and sick.
  2. 18 weeks maternity leave compared to 16 weeks at jpmc.
  3. 8 weeks paternity leave compared to 4 weeks.
  4. 15% ESPP discount compared to 5%.
  5. 401 match - 100% match upto 7% of base. 3% match if no contribution made compared to 3% match of 6% contribution.

As you can see, JPMC benefits are decent but certainly not the best in the industry.

This is HR 92 k is very good. Take it or get off pot for the next groundling to accept. 602 is not a big deal in our bank so quit b–chen as our benefits are top notch. You know in your heart you are not jp material

Are you currently working as it sounds silly to turn down a job with chase in a high tech cutting edge team over a few schillings in the grand scheme of things. 100k is is nice for ego but wont but you much more than 92. I think you are making big mistake.

Did you try looking at what folks with similar role in Ohio make? It does not hurt to ask for higher salary or a fixed bonus pay. If you are thinking of $100K, I would recommend you ask HR for salary of $108K. That way if they try to meet your expectation, they might offer somewhere in the middle.

No, this is not 603-VP. This is 602 Senior software engineer. Project seems to be be having cutting edge tech and team members appears very friendly but I $92K is frustrating.
I will talk with recruiter if she can increase else I will turn down offer.

92k @ AVP and below is normal. If we're talking 603 VP level and up then yes that is most definitely a lowball. With your experience and skillset why chose JPMC? Check out N26 instead. VP level and up starts at 150k+.

JPMC's benefits are nowhere near top notch, they are average if not below par. Anyone who has worked for other banks such as CapOne would agree.

Jps benefits are top notch. I left for a ton more money and my benefits are less and the ones offered cost more but for you the benefits are worth the 8k so take the job

Umm, if salary is not what you want and they refuse to meet you half way, then turn around and walk away. You gonna ask if you should eat with your mouth or your nose next ?

a lot of websites like level.fyi and glassdoor have some salaries which would give you a fair idea on what to expect.

Personally i prefer levels.fyi as the salaries reported there have been more accurate to what my friends at various other firms were offered.

I have 12+ years of experience and for that it's very low. It should be at least $100K. With that said, if I ask for this much would they turn down my offer?

Any advise what is normal range for salaries in this role?

First Offer is not highest. Negotiate based on your experience and the value you will bring to the team.
