Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

HIPAC

Given the Biden administration's push to pass pro-union legislation, we all need to step up and increase our HIPAC contributions. This is very important. Make sure you do the right thing and contribute.

I never contributed. Tier 1 and 2 "leaders" "discussed" it with me year after year and when the Tier 1 leader did, I felt it was intimidation. Saw a PowerPoint once in a Tier 1 staff meeting that assigned a VP to each "hold out." The subtle message was clear - if you want a promotion beyond where you are now, you'll need to contribute. Glad to be gone from that sick culture.

Shortly after joining the company, not yet having begun to recover from some costly personal setbacks, I received an "invitation" to join HIPAC. I did not want to do so and did not respond. After a few weeks, I was put on an internal email list with the others from my SBG who had not joined. The email announcing it said that this was so we could "communicate with each other". We could see the names of everyone who was eligible (Band 4 and up) but had not joined.

Realizing that this was a pressure tactic and they were monitoring it closely, I joined but pledged an amount lower than the recommended 2% of my salary. Not long thereafter I received an email from the CFO urging me to "reconsider", watch the attached video, and increase my pledge to the recommended amount. I did not. I am no longer with the company.

How dare they even ask you to increase contribution especially in these merit freeze / furlough years is beyond me.

Maybe I should contribute, if they can push to end the worthless, pathetic, corrupt, greedy panhandling that is today's unions.

I started with AiResearch in '68 and worked there continuously from '80 until '18, when I retired in Band 4. Never contributed one red cent to the PAC, but mostly it was "another time."

Government should ban this form of employee intimidation. If you don't think they have lists of who and how much you contribute you are living in a fantasy world. Absolutely used against people when doing 9-block and MIP %. You cant be MORE UN-ethical then that.
