Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AYCO Financial Planning offered by AT&T

For those of us who are eligible only until the end of 2021 to retire with company subsidized retiree health insurance, AT&T has offered financial planning services by AYCO, at no cost to the employee. There is an online group seminar as well as individual one-on-one counseling.

I might take advantage of these services, as I am seriously considering retiring this year, but I am wary of anything offered by AT&T. Color me cynical, but I do not believe for one minute that AT&T is offering this just to be nice.

This may be a scheme to provide sale leads to AYCO for further, paid, services, or maybe it is just another "push toward the door" to help some hesitant employees see that they actually are financially able to retire.

I am willing to accept those possibilities, but are there any risks or disadvantages to me? I am reasonably financially astute, but not an expert and could probably benefit from some professional advice. What are the traps here?

That's correct - it was a targeted offer/invitation to those who are directly affected by the loss of pre-medicare healthcare subsidy if they aren't off payroll by 12/31/21

It was a targeted email. The offer was only to certain employees.

How were you informed of AYCO? I was not aware and am always interested in possibilities. How can I get info on their service and seminar?

I have also signed up for the seminar - it doesn't hurt to listen and learn. No obligation to sign up for anything.

i got the offer and I am not eligible for retiree health care. Under the guise of more info is better, I plan to see what they have tosay. I have no intention of retiring at the end of the year. I think more info is better.
