Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Work From Home

For NON-MANAGEMENT, BARGAINED employees:

Many of us have been working from home for about a year. The MOA is set to expire sometime in June/July 2021.

What is the news on when or if we will return back to the call centers/offices? Or do you think, CWA and T will come to an agreement to make it a permanent solution?

Currently I am in District 6, so not sure when other Districts MOA expire, but I figure it's the same.

I cannot imagine AT&T would have everyone go back to the office if masks are still considered a good precaution. As long as that is the case it would be an unnecessary business risk to pile people into close cubicles. Plus AT&T benefits from people working at home, their costs are probably less. Employee Performance is not a factor for company performance(that’s all about the dividend and stock buyback-they take out more debt for that)

I doubt the office you are talking about would keep WFH permanent. They should keep it in my opinion. It’s going to be a real s—t show with everyone trying to park downtown. Management thinks call outs are bad now? Just wait till you can’t find parking and running late.

Or $40 per hour could be a benefit of the union contract and to some degree job protection reduces fear of speaking out. Too bad you don't have a union.

No wonder these union workers have better work rules. No wonder they make over 40 dollars a hour. No wonder they have the best benefits in the company. It's because they are big cry babies right?.

LMAO at whining manual laborers complaining others get to wok from home. It does take intelligence to use a PC from home but is easily manageable for those with an education. No, you do not need to see other employees to do your job and we have many new inventions like email, instant message, video conferencing and even something called a telephone that allows you to communicate. LOL No wonder these Unions have a tough time negotiating for a group with such childish ideas doing unskilled labor

Wear your damn mask and be thankful you’re still employed during these trying times. No employee should ever get an approval to be a full time WFH post pandemic. Face to face interactions are critical part of an employees development.

Managers working from home is the biggest joke yet.

It must be nice to work from home, and your biggest worry is where you will report after the pandemic . MST and Prem Techs have been forced to enter customer homes everyday to install tv , internet and phone service to all the people now working from home. We are essential workers , but we are not being vaccinated . We watch school teachers and office personnel being vaccinated even though they dont work . They sit at home and collect a paycheck , a paycheck that comes out of our hard earned tax dollars . The reason that these public teachers are treated so nice is , they belong to a real union . A union that kicks a– and takes no prisoners..

T management in its infinite wisdom forced all of us union personnel to report to our assigned location even at the height of the pandemic even though the rest of the company in this location and the rest of the company for that matter was told to work from home. Supervisors aren’t very bright, quite frankly, they’re clueless about what they do, yet they worked from home.

It would obviously be a huge cost savings not having to lease office space provided they’re not obligated to do so by the terms of their lease. Many other companies realized the benefit of telecommuting but AT&T with their archaic dinosaur mentality will go back to doing things the old fashion way, just because

If you are union, you will be going back, not sure when. Managers will be dealt with by group.

The issue is being able to social distance at the office. We have been told over and over that mgmt has no plan in place on how they can achieve keeping everyone spread out. And at the beginning of WFH it was made known that at least 30% would be WFH permanent. To my knowledge zero people (in any office) have been instructed to go back to the office.

I would rather quit my job if forced back into the office. I am more productive as a telecommuter.

I don't work from home as much as living at work.

We have so many people off work or out sick, we are forced 2 hrs mandatory OT a day and have been for months now.

Money is great! But dang...I am almost hoping for a regular work week again.

I agree with previous statement- be prepared to come back sooner rather than later- some of my co-workers are counting on them staying home permanently- NOT GOING TO HAPPEN-

Look to be called back to the normal office environment sooner rather than later. AT&T does not trust or otherwise support telecommuting. It will always be an uphill battle to obtain approval for telecommuting and even more difficult to maintain long term. You can only telecommute when it's in their best interests. They didn't have much choice during the covid crissis, and obviously it was in their best interests to provide blanket approval.
