Everyone tells me that layoff is an opportunity for a fresh start and for much better things. I tried to find a job before I was laid off and I didn’t succeed, but luckily I have some savings. From this perspective, “layoff is an opportunity for something better” sounds to me just like comfort, nothing else.
I haven’t heard anyone who has experienced a real debacle after the layoff, but I also haven’t heard anyone who is doing better now than ever (although I’d love to hear it).

I’m retired when everyday is a party!!! Love me some free stimulus money!!!!
I was let go in Aberdeen (Altens). Rehired 3 months later at a cost of £23k...and wonder why we are struggling?! Now on 2k more a year. 🤷🏽♂️
Getting laid off from wft means an opportunity to get out of the oilpatch. There are other, better opportunities out there besides petroleum
There are many examples of finding something better. Weatherford is a terrible company that treats employees horribly, and is only getting worse.
Grass is way greener outside this loser company
I know many who were laid of from Weatherford, and I know of only one who found a job in his field, and that was for much, much , much less pay. One person told me...I went to a bar...and never left. several are now having home problems, worried about the mortgage, telling there sons & daughters that the cost of college cannot be afforded, or drinking too much. And, after speaking to people in other industries, I greatly believe that there is a bias about hiring ex O&G personnel.
