Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Visiting from ExxonMobil

Curious if you’ve had similar benefits cut as we have at ExxonMobil

  • 401k match cut (was 7% for 6% employee contribution)
  • education reimbursement cut
  • cost of living adjustments eliminated in USA
  • increased workload due to headcount reduction (12 hour days common)

Thanks

I have a few good friends at Exxon. They used to always give me grief for working at chevron. Since the down turn they all want to come and work at chevron. Big paradine shift.

OP, we never suffered any of those cutbacks or losses you mentioned took place at Exxon. As a matter of fact, we still get an 8% company match into our 401k accounts for only a 2% employee contribution (not the 6% you guys had to put up). What’s more, the CVX stock dividend is alive and kicking, not reduced like XOM. Chevron will overtake Exxon soon enough in skill and prestige.

No because our base pay and compensation was never as good as others to start with, the head count was much less compared to our peers so the G&A cost was always less. Still about 16% headcount and of course increased workload but it is not 12 he a day.
