Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Revenue drying up

Work, and corresponding revenue is starting to really dry up in services in Q1 line never before.. I think the fat lady is up on the stage next. IBM has successfully layed off enough smart workers, promoted enough fools to senior positions, and showed no respect or rewards for the staff that’s left. Those still around are just collecting paychecks waiting for the fat lady’s last line. I really think this year is the Kodak year for IBM.

We do t need sellers. We are focusing on partners to sell. Cut the sales dead weight.

100 % it's bad...gigantic coverage re-alignment and purge of sellers very late new coverage assignments, still in the center of global pandemic with no real end in sight. Clients desperate in some industries barely hanging on by a thread before having to file bankruptcy. Nobody even assigned to deals where S2 reps long gone. = don't expect anyone to make quotas

I was on a “Fortune 500” account that closed down last year. An ex IBMer got a key job working for the CIO and he made our lives hell. He knew all the games that IBM will play and got so much free work out of us. This is the third time I’ve witnessed ex IBMers join a client and run us out of town.

The real question is “is revenue drying up from desired accounts” If the revenue shrink is from what IBM is abandoning they don’t care. Remember IBM/Redhats strategy is 85-90% Fortune 500 Everything else is disposable

You are correct. Open shift/CloudPaks is already a failed strategy.

If customers are balking at deals with Expert Lab Services plus CloudPaks doesn't that mean that CloudPaks also suffers not just Expert Labs?

Services in US Expert Labs is not doing well... that team just released a video about attaching services to all CloudPak deals... something like customers need Expert Labs to deploy the Paks... so on one hand we advertise these Paks as supposedly making things easier to deploy (point and click), yet customers have to buy Expert Labs services!!

This strategy is failing badly, and the future for Expert Labs looks really bleak!
