Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

People should be more grateful

I know I'll be downvoted into oblivion for this but I have to say it. You have a job. You have a relatively safe job that pays decently and provides you with a decent amount of benefits. And yet you keep complaining. How many people who've lost their jobs during the pandemic do you think would be overjoyed to trade places with you right now?

I am grateful that my CEO paid for war torn child soldiers, and people dying from hunger! Isnt this what Verizon is all about? Hello motto, is anybody there!? Why doesn't anyone agree with me, hello?

I am so grateful to be part of a company that was built by Hans, the guy that was CEO of Ericksson; where they sold AK-47s to war torn African countries; he is all about the UN now and human rights. I agree with internal cool aid, this post will be upvoted all the way to heaven. Money will fix everything; supposedly the root of all evil

I am grateful to exit this Verlieson trash heap forever. Now I spread the word not to do business with this garbage company.

Learn to play their game. Once you realize that senior management is a club full of narcists constantly on the prowl for praise, recognition the need to be worshipped & admired. The play book is skinny jeans, be hip, speak in sound bites, hire consulting firms, and bask in recognition for showing how diverse, inclusive, and charitable you are by spending the stake holders money to reprogram employees to comply to your way of thinking. All you need to do to succeed at Verizon is go along with the crowd, join hard working groups so you can be seen attending their meetings, Trust me you don't actually have to achieve results you just have to strategically use your vacation to avoid tough situations. Most important, convince senior management that you admire and look up to them. And crucial to looking important is how many times a day you text, sorry I'm in a meeting, I'll call you right back, I've seen it work over and over. Actual hard work does not get rewarded, that would steal the spotlight, hard workers are to be exploited, used up and discarded before they get the opportunity to learn the game.

Someone can be grateful and still unhappy with policy that isn’t employee centric. Over the years I’ve known people that were laid off, forced out, left on their own, etc... none of them say they miss Verizon.

The real question is; If you were a C Suite executive who had multiple vacation homes and wanted a bigger bonus, would you be hiring the smartest people from a continent with over 3 billion people who might k–l to get a real American salary(1/3 of a salary of a statesman in that continent)? The answer is while the whole finance world runs on Excel spreadsheets, and the executives act like kings from centuries ago, do you really understand the truth!? "They dont care"

Is this post "really" saying that we should be grateful for being lied to and being delusional? I am just wondering what you all think, corporate america is corporate, "Just a moment, Nina Speaking"

All they do is hire hard working Indians with PhDs and stuff to make money that would make people kings back home, just to get their bonus

Hello, you are right. Being grateful is certainly something humanity can do more of. However, we can be grateful and still utilize our voice to complain when needed. I’ll complain and be grateful at the same time. The reality is the corporate America system is and has been broken for a very long time. Executives collect huge paychecks and get to do so even when they make poor decisions that cost the company billions. They then cover it up through manipulation and PR, which is and was designed by the rich white man. I’m white by the way. Our system in America is so incredibly broken and the workers are the ones suffering, not the executives. Employees need to stand up against their corporations more than ever! Every employee needs to fight back! The executives at Verizon have made extremely poor choices and yet the only accountability being handed out is to the workers. Layoffs, PIP’s, more layoffs, PR spin, and then more accountability to the frontline workers. Technology is truly not that important. Humanity is important. Where is the gratitude from the elite 1% or all the executives? Where is it? People need to stop being puppets and stop believing everything they are told in this capitalistic country. The American Dream is a lie. It’s how they get you to work so hard to just get by. I am grateful and it is why I work so hard, but I’m not a fool. Unfortunately, I’m not a lawyer or educated in that profession or I’d start the fight against corporate bullying and greed. Be grateful, but don’t be taken advantage of. God bless you all! I am truly sorry to see so many being so hurt by their employers. I’m sorry to read and see some try to defend their employers actions. The manipulation is strong in America.
