I got my 20 years in, and voluntarily retired last year. I still check this site occasionally for the heck of it. Looks like things are going downhill fast. I am not ashamed to say that I am glad to be finished with that place.

Same 2020 voluntary scenario as the OP. From my personal perspective I could could have tolerated the loss of vacation days, the compressed pay bands and frozen salaries. Maybe even the haircut to the pension contribution. But there is no way I could even pretend to tell my team why these changes were "for your benefit".

I retired early 16 years ago and have enjoyed every minute.
And to new hires, look for better jobs now - jump ship and be happy!
Retirement from this cesspool saved my life.
I thought of leaving this year, but why leave when T pays lots of money to sit around doing nothing most of the week! Never look a gift horse in the mouth...just gonna take the money and run!
A suggestion, after reaching retirement goal and 17 months from medicare, I p-ss-d of a VP. My work performance fell, and I was unpleasant to my director. I was surplussed. 6 months severance, 6 months unemployment, 17 of 18 months cobra. I win.
I do not know if modified rule of 75 lets you retire if qualified and do not take retirement at the 15, 20, 25, or 30 year service mark. If required, try to be let go while within the age/service window. Then retire on last date eligible. Do not be tricked to stay past the last date to train someone. Once past, even with HR approval, you missed your chance.

I'm retiring in May 2021. Taking my 401k and pension and not looking back. Can't wait to have 6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday every week.
