Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Workload problem

I have a feeling that people are increasingly leaving on their own.
I don’t know if my case is unique, but in a very short time three of my colleagues left here and they didn’t hire any replacements. Instead, the scope of my work increased drastically.
I’ve been under tremendous stress before, but now I am reaching a breaking point. I wonder if there are more of you in a similar situation?

Heinz, just ignore him. It seems this guy does not have an original thought. He’d rather try to bait people into an argument. Like most children something else will capture his interest eventually.

The people that complain are NOT just entry level employees. Open your eyes and see the people leaving...that should tell you something.
Long Die Citi

I agree 100%. Citi has the average compensation package as the average large company. Complainers should seek employment elsewhere and chance being happier.

Saint louis sucks there aren't job opportunities there. Remember Citi is huge. Over 200k people work there and yes some jobs are better than others but that's on you to build your skills and move up in the firm. The people that complain are entry level and the goal is to move up and not stay an analyst for your career.
I am tired of complainers and yes I will say it again. Long live Citi!!!

Honestly, I know people who are getting multiple offers from elsewhere and are taking them. All for the same reason. More money and less work. At its core, its hard to beat that. I have to admit if offered the same or less work for 20% more $, yeah, I can see that. I mean bonuses and raises are very lacking. Its an odd message to hear “you’re top shelf quality work. Its hard to find workers like you. Here’s the highest ranking to you, but, I can’t give you anything for it.” After hearing that for the past three years, its no wonder people leave. I get it. Sad, but I get it.

Long live Citi. What a joke.
Definitely lots of opportunities out there just in St. Louis alone. Not just in higher salaries but also in sign on bonuses.

The beatings will continue until morale improves. As long as Citi can get away with doing more with less, why hire? We lost....er...um....gave away 900 million last year and were fined 400 million because of it. To make up for those losses, you reduce staff and what’s left you crack the whip extra extra hard. You rule by fear by stating every so often “just be glad to have a job” which is to remind you that “others are gone so just work harder longer and more often so you aren’t next”.

The funny part are the surveys that ask you about work life balance and how you handle stress.
Follow your colleagues lead, search for and interview. You may be surprised as to what you find.

Keep in mind that small to mid sized companies often pay more than larger companies. “No, we don’t have a company matching for your 401K, but here’s 20K extra in pay”. I had a colleague leave recently for 42% more in salary. My point being, you do have options rather than “just taking it”
