Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Why is bullying tolerated at AT&T?

Why are those of us who are getting bullied expected to develop a thicker skin instead of bullies being expected to adjust their behavior? This should be a no-brainer and yet this is what we have. I know it's not just my team, I've heard from several people who are having similar issues. The sad thing is, if we go over our manager's head (who wants to keep the status quo) and contact HR, we'll only make things worse for ourselves.

Have you gone to the person and ask them to stop or told them you didnt appreciate it, it makes you feel bad. That person may be r—ded like myself and not realized they hurt you until you tell them. Some people are a–holes for comedic value and dont realized theyve hurt you until you tell them. They think its just being chummy. As a mildly autistic bro. I can tell you bullys dont always realize their being a–holes until there told their being a–holes.

go to the media networks to air your grievance. Have proof times and dates of when you talked to your managers about hostile work environment, harassment incidents and facts of bullying to back up your story. you also have option to talk to employment attorney.

Have any of you been in a meeting with Stanker’s?!? He screams, yells, demeans, and bullies women. He literally cuts them off mid sentence if they offer ideas or suggestions he disagrees with. No wonder others think it’s ok!

I work at AT&T for an AVP who's actions would be defined as bullying. I don't have time to diagnose their exact illness, but after reading some books on the subject, I would like to share the most helpful:
BOOK: The Power of the Other - Dr Henry Cloud: Due to reading this book a small group of allies is forming to help each other overcome their fears.
BOOK: 5 Types of People Who Can Ruin Your Life [Eddy] dedicates chapter 5 to identifying and dealing with Narcissistic HPV's. I have summarized the following from this book:

  1. Avoiding HCP: It is most important to avoid when possible
  2. If you can't avoid, then the book shares some methods for how to handle the conversation, however if they are in a rage, try to get away.
  3. Breaking Away from a rage (Chapter 9) [E.A.R. Statement]
  4. Setting Limits is something that is often needed, since they tend to overstep personal boundaries, [work outside business hours, accused of not responding quickly enough]. Limits is an advanced move, requiring planning.
  5. Moving to another organization: if you decide to break away from the HCP - you must also plan here so as not to become the target

OP, your original post is pretty vague. Could you maybe be a little more specific as to how you’re being “bullied”??

Document the bullying date, time and location. Hire a lawyer who'll then contact HR. You'll be amazed on how quickly things happen in your favor when a lawyer is present. Good luck.

If you are harassed you need to document it and seek external help. HR represents the interests of AT&T.

Because the managers are lazy and don’t want todo anything about it. Same as loudmouth people when you have customers or trying to work. Uneducated. Collections

Donovan's mo–n (Smelly) was the biggest bully of all - but now everyone knows this individual is just a self absorbed, middle aged, drama queen and is considered a joke.

Bullying is everywhere. I actually got fired from a job for leaving a meeting where I was getting bullied. I was defending myself and saw it was going no where and left. He got promoted and I (the old lady) got fired.

Stankey is a bully and condones bullying. It's a sign of insecurity and inferiority.
