Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Good stepping stone?

I haven’t been at Mellon for long, but I see a lot of people on the forum saying that it’s no longer a good place to stay however it is a good stepping stone to go to some better place. Honestly, I don’t know how to use this place as a stepping stone. Perhaps I haven't been here long enough (little over two years) so maybe it will take more time for Mellon to become a good stepping stone for me.

Don't over stay.. keep one eye out on the market and when that opportunity arrives make sure you give it your best effort. The benefits package that you receive may be better, but slowly you'll find that it is clawed back; overtime, on-call, weekend working, pension, holidays, merit increases etc...

BNY Mellon is nothing like it was a few years ago. Everyone watching their backs.

Managers with hidden agendas are amongst the worst.

Two years with BNYM should have given you plenty of experience to enable your next move. If not then that should tell you enough about how much the organization has developed you. I suggest you update your resume and start searching elsewhere because you won’t find anything here.

You must have been there very long because Mellon ceased to exist in July 2007.
