It's not an "article", it's a letter to the editor drafted by some former employees that are delusional enough to think that somehow they or their opinion matters. I don't like all of the cutting either, but come on man. No one cares.

While I don't like removal of benefits, I didn't plan to die early for anyone to collect. The benefit disappeared at age 75 anyway.
But, a promise and earned benefit is only as good as the company.
Tell the world — AT&T is a 5H1T company. Service, support and their word is not good. Billing
errors are common and when a "mistake" is made it's always in their favor.
Jump ship with AT&T. Just say NO....
Use a competitor that wants your business that respects it's word and stands for honesty.
