Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

The rift between people

Husky/ Cenovus animosity is starting to bother me a lot. People are divided and on both sides I have had the opportunity to hear that they do not have a good opinion of each other. I’m talking about animosity among ordinary workers. While the intolerance only exists at the bottom, it seems that the ones at the top get along just fine... Just my two cents.

The new people I have worked with and interacted with have been great, so this is a c-appy post to read if it's actually going on. I like meeting and working with new, smart people and new ideas and perspectives, and expanding the business and seeing what perspective that brings - what a waste of time if people are pissing about based on legacy company. Takes a pretty insecure and weak person to do this. Honestly people who are expending effort and energy on resentment and a–holery based on legacy company should just get out - there's no cause for it. We need to build off each other's strengths and make the new company as good as possible. Enough bad stuff going on in the world and in our own lives without being jerks to each other.

If Cenovus was smart they would skid everyone and hire all new people to get rid of the rotten culture on both sides. Problem solved.

This is a garbage post. How do you refuse to make eye contact when you’re not in the office? And DZ couldn’t sort out his own underwear drawer never mind this. It took two years for the Conoco integration to happen to any great extent. Don’t count on him. And there was no animosity between Encana and Cenovus. That’s ridiculous.

This post may be downvoted but whatever. There was similar behavior when Cenovus split from Encana years ago. Watching the open hostility towards Encana from my colleagues at the time was embarrassing (also the chest thumping and arrogance when our stock price outperformed ECA). I know things were so bad within some teams who were required to transfer information to Encana that lawyers had to get involved when folks at Cenovus refused to do so.

No worries, DZ will sort this out!

It's so weird! I'm friends with a lower level (not management) employee at Cenovus, and he's become obsessed with hating everyone from Husky. He's said he refuses to even make eye contact with those 'losers'. Apparently that's happening on the Husky side too. This integration is going to fail when people refuse to talk to each other.
