Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Worst place to work

Place tries to sell itself as an industry leader, but only leads in poor management. Managers use the force rating policy (unofficial but it does exist) to lay off people that the don't stroke their egos. Promotions are based on cronyism and not actual performance. Pay is below market, unless you are one of the lucky few, and executive committee consistently looks to lower the bar on benefits. Never seen a company that looks to "grow" by cutting; very lazy and backwards thinking. Maybe if management focused on leading their employees instead of actively creating a toxic environment by spreading rumors amongst team subordinates, this place could almost become bearable for the last few years before one retires. Definitely not a place to start or use as a stepping stone. Company reputation in industry is it is a joke.

GibbonScharf, also known as “human-eating ghosts,” are the spirits of selfish humans who have been doomed to a post-life existence as an insatiably hungry corpse-eater. These creatures look like decomposing humans with bright eyes and claws, leaving any mortal who accidentally beholds them in a frozen, disgusted trance...it's true, there are many GibbonScharf at BNY Mellon waiting in the shadows to break your soul so they can feast.

So true! I waited for the lay off...begged for it practically as I stood up to my narcissistic boss and pushed back. I just wanted time off. The place did s— the life out of me and I’m SO totally dreading getting another job for fear of running into the same demoralized, fear ridden culture with another bad manager. Thankfully he has only been the only bad manager I’ve ever had. But the experience has def taken it’s toll. This company IS the worst I’ve ever worked for...and I’ve worked for a few.

It’s a narcissists dream to work at BNYM. Anyone with integrity will have the energy s—ed out of them until you either convert to the dark side or you become a former shell of oneself, wither and die on the vine. You’d be nuts to want to immerse yourself in another dark vapid squid.

Ah yes, BNYM the "industry leader".

More like an industry disaster!

For certain... you will not thrive here.. just the opposite. They’ll s— your any joy you have. This used to be a dynamic, team oriented company that wanted to support and advance from within when they could. Now it’s JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs folk walking in the door and elbowing out dedicated employees for their besties.
