Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

GSSO is a joke

GSSO is a joke and it starts at the top. Shelly is the worse Sales VP I have had in my career in selling which is over 20+ years. She has never been a sales leader at any level and it shows. She is clueless about security. Notice in her emails and her pre-recorded videos how everything she says is “my (fill in the blank)”. She is trying to convince everyone she has a clue and deserves to be the Sales VP. There is no security sales strategy from her.

Does anyone in GSSO believe she is even remotely qualified.

"As someone that is in the know, she can’t even say why the security competition is growing 2x - 3x or more than Cisco. She simply has no idea. She has no idea why certain security campaigns and programs are not working."

Security is outpacing other verticals everywhere.

However, if your company was bought by Cisco, then why is it surprising that growth will begin to stagnate? Historically this happened to us in Cisco WAAS and many other groups.

Cisco Live touting security, but don't the Cisco offerings add so much complexity? Every time I buy a new Cisco product, what license do they want to add? Yaaaa.. Security.

Perhaps people have grown out of that?

And maybe it is not her fault at all?

I thought I saw a response earlier about if you can’t say it to someone’s face then don’t say it at all.

I don’t see that response, but I agree with the original poster and with the person’s response who say if you can’t say it to someone’s face then don’t s say it. The problem is Shelly is never available or is missing in action. When she gets promoted, she likes to say she will go on a “listening tour”.

As someone that is in the know, she can’t even say why the security competition is growing 2x - 3x or more than Cisco. She simply has no idea. She has no idea why certain security campaigns and programs are not working.

Shelly is well known for that if you challenge her or ask her the tough questions, you are going to pay a price, and she uses her position to make sure she gets revenge. Too many true stories about Shelly on this one.

These are just a few examples on why she is not a Sales leader.

The Peter Principle is active with Shelly. Two promotions too far.

Why does Cisco even need FireStorm, or whatever it was before the aquisition?

I get it, but Cisco was supposed to already BE a security company.

It don't seem like her fault, you buy a company and integrate it or let it run independently.

I don't know if one hand know what the other hand is doing at Cisco anymore.

I agree with both you.

You don’t have to know security to be VP of Sales in GSSO ..... BUT you need to know sales and Shelly has never been a sales leader at any level. It is clear she does not know sales strategy.
